Was in the valley last Friday night and upon waking early Saturday AM, the thermometer read 54 F. After and again suffering through 100 F days and 80 F nights in downtown Reva, VA, it was refreshing, indeed. smile

I rode Plantation Trail with Redman on Friday afternoon. What a big difference in temps between the Valley and suburbia. On Friday, the high was 78F in Davis. When I arrived in NOVA on Friday night it was 83F at 10pm. Next time I'm in the Valley, I'll have to remember to bring a coat. wink

I wore a fleece on the bike ride over to the Purple Fiddle Friday nite. When I rolled out of Davis to the flats on Sunday around 11:00 it was 70...when I dropped off the Front and hit Petersburg ~20 miles away as the crow flies it was 94. Altitude will set you free!!! (:^O)>>>

For tonight, NOAA has the temps in the lower 40s at higher elevations. Might even see a little frost on the tomatoes.

I'm spending this evening in the Roaring Plains. I hope my 35 degree bag holds up. I have a feeling that it's going to be a chilly night!!

Dave Lesher's site said it was 84 degrees in Canaan Heights.

On Wednesday night, I was working on my wife's bike in the garage and the temperature was 87 degrees at 10pm. Sounds like I need to get out of the flatlands and head to the hills to cool off.

Back in july 1988 the low hit 27 degrees..That is the Lowest temp that I have found for July with a couple of 32's here & there. BUT..The Highest temp during the same month & year is recorded as 95 (suspect) but I would be willing to bet that it was misread..usually the highest temps to hit the valley in the summer are in the low to mid 80's with the once in awhile upper 80's..though rare.

Wow, no posts since July 9th here in the main forum.

Speaking of Canaan cool, the family spent the weekend about halfway up Cabin Mountain in Olde Timberline. It was a HOT one. Got up into the mid 80's. Evenings were still nice though. Especially Saturday evening at Bear Rocks. Also got to here a pretty good traditional bluegrass band from none other than Sweden. Go figure that?

Oh yeah, Sunday afternoon brought some of the hardest/long-lasting that I've seen in sometime.

...and I think I had a Chaga sighting or 2 at Hellbenders, but since I was with the whole fam I didn't get to stop in for confirmation.... wink

We made it to the valley last weekend too. As you said, hot for there, mid 80s but it sure beat the 102 at my Reva, VA homestead. I'm really getting tired of this hot crap. How many days till the season?
