Thanks for those that came by to help make the Ski Center Ski Swap a huge success! We had record crowds beating last year's then-record setting crowd. Not sure if it was last winter's snows or the beautiful weather at the swap or an upticking economy, but everyone seemed to be in the mood to sell AND buy.

I will say somebody got a great deal on my old Lange boots. I had just put in a brand new liner and installed new heel & toe pieces. Thanks to the REI megasale in Denver last spring, however, I already had new boots! Glad someone will continue using my old trusty Langes.

I went to the Cochran's ski & race club sale yesterday in Richmond, VT.

Got stuff for grandsons, powder skis for my daughter, skate skis for me. The latter is the only thing I got. They are feather light, about 1.5 lbs. for the pair. I was putting them in my ski box when one of the Cochran's Club people directing cars started talking to me; wanted to know how I liked the box. "Great, I've had it for 10+ years. I brought 7 pairs of skis and 11 pairs of poles from Virginia. My wife was hoping I'd bring it back home empty." His reply; "Silly woman."

The scale of this sale is mind boggling. A gymnasium was stuffed to the gills with alpine stuff & snowboards. A separate room contained nordic stuff. There were 15 check out register lines.

Thanks for including me in the list! A fully functional Nordic Track was another curious find. You may have also missed the container of topcoat stickers for your skis. Seemed about five different options, all yours for $2, and circa 1992.

Good day. Great, pre-seasonal weather. For those who've never seen it live, watching Comprex field multiple gear questions, simultaneously, from various swap attendees, each one with seemingly personal experience - it's quite a show. For his assistance, I meagerly offered him access to our donut supply in return.

As I'll also post on the other thread - for those still looking to get a pre-season deal on a Snowtime pass, they had reps outside the shop selling them at the pre 10/31 price. Don't know if that will continue at any other pre-season swaps/shows/ski shop appearances, but a big heads up.

How beeg is that?

No where near as big as Cochran's ski & race club but probably one of the best around here for better, newer gear. I missed the Boyce Park Ski Patrol swap at Center Ski another good one. Don't know how to compare to DC area swaps.

That^ pic shows 1 full table of boots; that's on the same order of magnitude as Ski Chalet-Chantilly and Alpine Ski Shop. If it's more like 4-5-6 tables of boots, it would be on the scale of the swap at Ski Center (DC). The point about new gear is duly noted.

Just in case you guys didn't know, TJ Max in WV has a lot of ski gear, goggles, hats, base layers, jackets, pants and even some snowshoes in S. Chas.

FWIW, Marshall's (same owners as TJ Maxx) around here has quite some selection of Columbia, Grandoe, Marmot, UnderArmour, Kombi. Selection varies by store.

Costco too. I got a nice softshell jacket there last year. Right now they have some nice baselayer pants & tops. Picked some up today. You have to check often; Costco doesn't restock. They get stuff at discount prices and when it's gone, it's gone.
