I promised John L that I would find out when Cochran's sale is this year. It turns out that it has not been posted, nor has anything else for the upcoming season. This is not unusual, but it is always in Nov. When I find out I'll post it. For those who don't know Cochran's here is a link,

Their sale is the best place in the east to buy top end used, and sometimes new, equipment at very good prices. Killington's sale is a close second. Unlike DC, where people ask for bloated prices, there is a glut of used race equip. In VT. Every race program kid in VT wants a new pair of slalom and GS skis every year. Many are sponsored and get their stuff for free. So, depending on what you need, a trip to VT may pay off. I go every year since I visit my daughter and family at the same time. The crowds line up at about 6 AM.

My daughter probably wouldn't mind a fall weekend at Massanutten for the water park. The Wintergreen date never works for us.

"We will be holding our Annual Ski Swaps this year October 6-7 and November 3-4 (the first weekends of both months). Ski Liberty/Whitetail/Roundtop will once again be there selling Pre-season priced Advantage Cards and answering questions about the Resort. We hope to have several other Resorts there, as well, though we'll know more as we get closer.

Encompasse Tours will be there with a table, if anyone has any questions about setting up Group Trips.

Timberline Ski Patrol will, once again, be helping us run the events."

Never heard of a swap at Massanutten or in Harrisonburg. Fall Festival is designed to pull people to the timeshare units for fall colors.

Massanutten and Wintergreen may be selling season passes at the Freestyle swap in Charlottesville. They did last year.

Forget something there Jim?

Anyone go the the Dilly? I went Friday morning about 10 minutes after they openned and there were people already walking out with new gear. I went looking for some skis for my son and myself, but couldn't find anything that fit my needs. I went back last night and purchased a new set of boots and a new Marker Goretex jacket to add to my kids trade in program.

Now its time to have my kids try on their gear, so I can get rid of some of my inventory of kids boots, skis, etc. at one of the upcoming ski swaps.

Of course.

I have to say SC personnel have really stepped up their game with regards to helpfulness and stock awareness.

PSA: Anyone looking for bushwhacking-type XC skis, should really check out their Alpina rack (in the back room, right wall). No-wax skis with full steel edges and one of the best climbing base patterns out there - for less than in-track skis cost online.

These will totally work for golf course skiing, totally work for Wolftrap bushwhacking, and, with the right binding, will work for WhiteGrass. (IMO SC did not have Whitegrass level boots + bindings but YMMV).

Just returned from the Dilly. I was hoping to see some familiar faces, but didn't, so I was not there long. Picked up a spare pair of superfeet footbeds. It never hurts to have a spare pair. Other than that nothing; I don't need new skis, boots, or clothes, I need new snow.

Spent more time looking for SC than I spent inside, 20 minutes at least of driving thru industrial park wasteland. Finally called their # and it was still hard to find. My GPS erred by at least a half mile. Various signs on the roadside with an arrow all seemed to be placed at 45 degrees so that one had to guess whether to turn or go straight. They ought to think about this next year. I am sure they lost some potential customers.

Yeah, Sullyfield Circle looks like a giant lollipop sitting under the intersection of Rte. 50&28. Fortunately for me, Walney Rd. is also Centerville Rd. is also Elden St. in Herndon. Cyclists know Elden St. in Herndon very well - it is the slightly diagonal intersection with the W&OD that takes forever for the light to change.

Sounds like Denis got lost in the Walney Rd/ Westmore maze. I've done that before, and had to get back onto 50 to reorient. GPS is rather useless in there.

1 pair Racetigers - for $125 !!!! With camber ! (I have too many SL skis too)
1 pair Fischer SLs - for $50!!!! With edges!



IMO very, very little that was priced over $300 sold. It's a shame some of the race skis didn't sell.

November 10th Saturday and 11th Sunday. It will be run by the Canaan Valley Ski Patrol.

I have a gear request.

I am looking for Marker Twincam poles with the thumb protection grip. These look like a sabre/pistol grip, with what looks like a stack of bendable plates, or a super-grooved surface.

Will take any size 46-50in.
