Not sure how many road riders there are out there, but here's a beautiful ride if you are ever interested.
The Highland Scenic Highway is a stretch of secluded road in Pocahontas County, WV. It is closed to commercial traffic and is not plowed/treated in the winter = great pavement. Each side starts at about 3,500 ft and travels up to ~4,500 ft. In the middle it drops down to right at 3,000 and offers a magnificent (and by that I mean painful) 1,500 ft climb back up to 4,500 ft. From one side to the other is roughly 22 miles. Out and back it's about 45 miles and 6,000 ft of total climbing. A little painful, BUT....you WILL NOT find a more beautiful ride pretty much anywhere.
Oh yeah, it's a nice (and painless) drive in the car!!
Here's my Garmin data from our ride on the Scenic Highway yesterday. Not too bad for a few med students..
