...That's what I told my wife. And this time for once, I was telling the truth.

You see, normally I get myself in trouble. I LOVE to hike. My version of an easy hike is far from my wife's version of easy. I believe that anything under 5 miles (assuming there isn't massive elevation change) is pretty easy. She thinks 5 miles is a long way. So as you could see, finding something we both enjoy can be challenging. Now don't get me wrong, although a 15 mile hurtfest through the MNF can be a great time, I also enjoy short hikes as well.

I'm assuming that I'm not the only guy with this problem (maybe I am), so I thought I'd post up a short hike that my wife and I did the weekend before last. Hopefully it will encourage some people to get outside and have fun.

We headed out and traveled the ~1 hour north from Lewisburg to the Scenic Highway (rt 150). We cruised up from the Cranberry Mtn Nature Center side to the Tea Creek Campground. There we found a pretty sweet campsite. This was my first time staying here and I must say that it is a pretty nice place.

Camping on our Subaru's 1 week anniversary

A nice little place to tent camp.

The only tent I own. Great for backpacking....a little tight though.

Dinner, my favorite thing about car camping.

After a fairly good night's rest, we packed up our stuff and made our way to the High Rocks Trailhead. It is just a few miles back towards the Nature Center on rt 150. The sign at the trailhead says that it is a 4 mile out and back hike. The MNF hiking guide says it is only 1.6 miles out. I figured that this was more accurate, as they map all of the trails themselves by foot with a GPS. The hiking guide was indeed correct. It took us less than 50 mins out and roughly 35 minutes back.

At the trailhead around 9 am. It got down to ~45 degrees that night.

She's smiling, I'm still doing good!!

The hike is very easy and flat almost the entire way out. You basically walk a ridge line (no views) through hardwood forest until you get to a point with a beautiful view.

The trail look like this most of the way. Easy to follow & not much climbing

As far as views in WV go, this one wasn't my favorite, but by now means does that mean is a bad view. It was still a great view of the Lick Run Valley. There is also a nice place there to just sit and relax below a pretty neat oak (if I remember right) tree. Definitely worth the hike, especially for the little bit of work it takes to get there.

View from the top.

This tree made for a great place to sit, relax, and enjoy the view.

Anyway, hopefully you enjoyed the pictures.

Im glad to see im not the only one with that problem. Her idea of a good hike is the trail from the trailhead to lindy point. lol

Glad to see there is another easy trail with a reward at the end i can explore with her soon.

I just checked out this thread. I have the Limelight (tent), too. 3-person. Love it. Easy to set up, easy to tear down, well-ventilated and super-waterproof (our first time using it was up near Lake Placid last summer, and it rained 1-2 inches a day for 3 days, almost entirely overnight, and we stayed bone dry inside).

Although Jana and I enjoy long hikes, we look for shorter options, too... I'll add this to the list!

It's a beautiful place. I think that it was great sports. I've read about this place in some Persuasive essay.

My cuzin from Hollerville wint there 1 time and made a tent out of branches and leaves. He cooked roadkill on the fire and dreamed about great sports. Somehow, a beautiful groundhog crawled in his leaf bed and read him a persuasive essay. Now my cusin from Hollerville only comes out of his leaf bed on Feb 2.
