Here is some video of this past year
http://www.vimeo.com/15617652The new Forum video available on itunes has some shots from there as well. Though it has some language in it.
...cool video...that is great looking park at seven springs...it's funny it's always easy to pic out a park rider making powder turns....in Davis now???does that mean you'll be riding the t-slime this year...
Yeah, T-Line is now my permanent home. I haven't figured out my involvment with the resort just yet, keep you guys posted.
I think you can sometimes look at turns and say yeah that kid is a park rider, but I'm an old park rat that has been told numerous times I make the best turns anyone has ever seen. Even been singled out in Park City and JHole by strangers to tell me they liked my turns. Anyways my point is there are some really good all around riders from around here.
...I guess there are some good all around riders from around here...but for the most part as far as turns go, I see riders around here who don't know how to use there front foot, who make speed checks instead of turns, and hold there back hand out to the side like they are carrying an invsible cup of coffee or a briefcase to the lift...but what do I know, I'm just a novice skier...
I did notice some nice turns in powder in the first 45 sec. or so. It had to make me wonder if BB's heart was really in powder rather than the terrain park. I have no problem with good riders in powder and even aspire to be one. Bad riders in terrain parks are not my problem. In fact the best thing about terrain parks IMHO is that they keep most of the latter group in one place.
Sorry if I was defensive, shouldn't drink and post. Anyways thanks for the props, those turns are me and a lot of them where in snow that may have looked like powder but it hadn't snowed in 6 days. Made for some descent shots though. My heart has always been in riding pow. The first time I snowboarding in WV 18 years ago was hiking pipelines, and it is still one of my favorite things to do. Lets hope we get enough snow again this winter as I have this place mapped out now.
As far as keeping bad riders in the park, you are correct on about 95% of them. Though that other 5% are the guys who love riding some much they do it 5 to 6 times a week and if you live around here (except Timberline) you just end up in the park out of boredom.
This is one of the reasons why Tom Wallisch and Cody Boan are making it as pros. The kids out west might have the same amount of days on skiis or boards growing up, but they get distracted by better terrain and thus are not as technically sound as the top 18-21 year olds that are coming out of here now. Though I'm not saying if I was 16 again and given the choice to be a park rat or a big mountain rider, I wouldn't chose the latter.
...I was just jokin' around Bruce...I remember the first snowy luau big air contest we held at timberline that red bull sponsored...we had built a really good jump with a really smooth take off, probably about a 35 foot jump with a 6 foot wedge...this little kid shows up with his dad and throws all these inverted tricks, smooth as hell...he won hands down...he was a little gymnast bad [censored] for sure, like a cat in the air you new he was going to land on his feet, but what I remember the most was he came up to me after the awards ceremony and said "I wanted to thank you for building such a fun jump and putting on this contest"...he was a respectful, classy kid, you don't here that kind of thing from kids usually, and really that impressed me more then his skiing, that was Tom Wallisch...

Sounds like you'll fit in with some of the usual late night posters here on DCski.

That takes all the fun out of those late night posts.
AAAGGGHHHH!!! Another knuckle dragger.
Welcome Bruce. A lot of us are t-slime regualars and enjoy having others join us. Look for you on the hill!
Hey Tucker, I had a question from another regular who has a son who wants to race as a rider. The kid attended a race camp at Hood this summer. Where should he be directed?
I'm assuming this is Tucker Garten, sorry if I butchered the last name. Anyways this is Bruce that was the park manager at the Shoe five years ago. I hear a couple stories like that about Tom every year. Which makes me really proud, cause lets be real besides watching other peoples runs in contests and telling him what he needs to win, I've been more of a life coach to him than ski coach over the past 7 years.
...you nailed the last name...yeah, Bruce I knew it was you...hence the jokin around...
Kwillgoski,
Do you know if he is riding soft boots or hard boots and if he is racing gates or boardercross. If he is just getting into it and figuring things out then he can get some local instruction, from a carefully picked instructor. If he is already rippin' at a serious competitive level and just lookin' for some fine tuning and strategy coaching then he might have to do some traveling to get any useful help. I would be glad to talk to him or his parents and see if I can steer them in a good direction...if he is riding soft boots I might be able to do some coaching.
I think that I am going to be the property of the Window Fogger for a few days a week this season. Are you going to be teachin' this season?
Window fogger? Is that Bobby's office? Ski school nickname?
Yeah, Tucker. Me and the Mrs. plan on being back in Bobby's world for another year at least. Maybe not as much as last year. Our names were too high on several of his "statictical" lists for comfort. Makes us look too eager. Gotta do something about that. I like the "but Bobbby, it's a powder day" approach...right Jimmy?
I'll find out what the kid is interested in and steer him your way. You'll like him and his family.
If the kid is interested in Boarder Cross, I'll pitch in some free time too if wanted.
Thanks Bruce. Although I'm a 2 planker, I'll support any kid serious enough to get training in over the summer even if it is riding. He's not into freestyle though. Wanted gates and maybe boarder cross.

Ya DcSki can never habve enough of those, welcome BB.
But Kim, it
was a Powder Day. We traded an hour of pow turns for level ones and lift duty the rest of the day. Only list i made the top of other than timbers pub appearances was the clinics taken list.
Ya Jimmy. It's worth it sometimes... the abuse...the getting even...for the sweet freshies on the drop, OTW, cherry bowl, etc... Don't want to look too eager to work on pow-pow days though
Why don't you hop back on your dragon boat and paddle back across the pond to where you came from...ya knockoff biatch!!!
?????? Where did that come from???? What kind of pipe do they think we r talkin bout?
I was referring to the previous spammer post...nothing to do with the pipe dealio
gotcha... can't figure out what that was about. talk about being lost in space...
Hello? Hello? Scott?
Can you delete this dragonspam person?
Post something about global warmings or shovel ready projects and that'll do it
.
jimmy, keep those political inferences over in the Epic supporter lounge.
hee, hee!
Was that a spammer? Good God what was he (she), (it) trying to accomplish. Sure wouldn't get me to buy anything.
I hereby award a Blue Ribbon & Gold Medal to nizhegesigui for the best thread hijacking ever on DCSki!
What da %#$@?
Oh, I am sure I have seen some of this in various posts.
For example:
Fancy is a kind of fantastic imagination. In this splendid world, we can open our brilliant mind. To go to the big world is all of our dreams.
AND
I like those fancies and love my dreams. My dream is my life. Without dream, there will be no power for me to moving forward. There will be no happiness and no joy.
Dream is our drama in the mind. You can plan your our drama by yourself. The most exciting moment is to choose the characters.
I think I have seen these on the Laurel Mountain Breaking News thread
You are not very tall ,but taller than me, the first time that we saw each other, we don't have good feeling to each other, the feeling is just so so, not very wonderful, it's just ordinary.
From a TL versus BK discussion thread when conditions at BK are bad.
You can choose those you like and you can to choose those you hate.
