BROOMFIELD, Colo.- Vail Resorts Inc. has appointed the chief operating officer of a West Virginia ski resort as the new chief operating officer of Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort. Bill Rock had been president and chief operating officer of Intrawest's Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Snowshoe, W.V., since 2005 and president of Intrawest Spain since 2009.
Before that, the former U.S. Army lieutenant was chief operating officer and general manager of Durango Mountain Resort in southwest Colorado and also worked at Stratton Mountain Resort in Vermont and Bristol Mountain Resort in Canandaigua, N.Y.
Vail Resorts announced in October it was buying Northstar for $63 million and bringing in its own managers.
Good for Bill! He has done a good job at Snowshoe, especially given the pressures from Intrawest do to lossess at many of the other Intrawest resorts. Good luck, Bill, and may Intrawest find a first class replacement ASAP. The Colonel
