Thats good news, I hope they can blow enough over the next two weeks to be open for their Birthday celebration. The extended forecast is looking marginal at best.
Does anyone know if Tline or CVR are blowing snow? The Dolly Sods camera is sayings its 23 degrees at 1:30pm.
Still 23 degrees at 3:15. Looks like Timberline is blowing snow at the base. Or maybe it is just dust from Doc sweeping out the lodge?? It's hard to tell from that distance...
I ccked the 7Springs Webcam, but could not tell. However, I justed checked Hidden Valley and their gus are going.
You can see the white cloud at the base of TL David & I don't know if that is the real start of operations or are they just "blowin out the mice'!?
As far as the weather goes, it looks like there will be a break in snowmaking operations on the 29th for a couple of days leading up to another good dose of rain for the highlands tue before the snow/cold moves back in for the 1st of Dec...I'm thinking that this one is the one that could last for a couple of weeks at least..lets hope!
you r right it is hard 2 tell but i believe 7s is making snow.
Wisp was blowing snow all last night, and the real stuff has been falling since early this morning. Woohoo!
The long range forecast is looking excellent (20s@night/30s@day)for the next week or more. Maybe we'll see you and family out there for $7 tickets on 12/12??
the $7 day - i never miss - always the best way /day to start the season.....and the place is always at least 1/2 open.....
Shameless plug: If you are heading up for the 12th via Rt 7 or Rt 9, stop by St James Catholic Church in Charles Town, WV for the Pancake breakfast from 8-12AM. 5 bucks for 3 pancakes, scrambled eggs, french toast sticks, sausage, bacon, and coffee/tea/juice/milk. You can even make fun of one of the servers/cooks, who will be missing the Wisp birthday party for the 3rd straight year. I can't even go on monday, as we are having a blood drive the next day.
Looks like about 2 weeks of good snowmaking temps for the region, with some significant upslope on the models for the mountains. Looking back at the 09 data, this actually looks like a more consistent start in terms of temps.
Right now I'm planning on heading up the 12th as 7 bucks is too good a deal to miss, especially if they have a significant portion of terrain open. Plus I have new (to me) skis for that I picked up over the summer and need to get them their first taste of snow.

Nevermind. It looks like we moved the breakfast, so I plan on being up there on Sunday as well.
Jim,
We plan on being there on 12/12. I'm in the process of getting the crew's ski & snowboard gear together. I'm in pretty good shape, but I still need to acquire one more set of ski boots, a ski jacket, and a tuning kit.
