... rumor has it that there's some fluffy stuff in the long-range forecast for the DC area (around Sun-Mon of next week).

I'm no meteorologist, but that's what I hear... Fingers tightly crossed...

Hope it happens but I'm not going to chase this one. Wet ground below makes really nasty ice up problems on the climb up. I've experienced 3" thick pads of ice/slush stuck on the fishscales or skins on my skis.

Negative, maybe flurries but don't think we will see accumulations... likely fluffy stuff up high (WV/MD/PA) but DC is doubtful, there is a clipper but that will dry out before we get more than a dusting.

However, good news for skiing is the lack of snow... for openings (unless there is going to be a 30 inch dump and in the teens) we would rather cold and dry weather, which should be plentiful for next week.

Too early to tell it seems, but lets hear from the DC ski prognosticators.

18Z runs look much better for DC area but models are all over the place from run to run. And Keith correct... latest run of the Nam/WRF gives Shoe 12-16 of snow (too bad they "need another week of snowmaking to be open")

The way I see it is the clipper coming down leaving a half foot give or take in the western highlands of WV & just swinging south of the DC area & on out to sea..nothing too much if anything at all for DC.. but then the Alpps get more backside snow on top of that...as kieth mentioned we have good chances for elevation snows with some lake enhancement finally.

Like I've been posting for awhile now...1st 2/3 of Dec is lookin good & Ive learned that after awhile it gets stupid trying to predict snow amounts when they just start to blend into a big mismash of events which is why I posted earlier..".a few here, another there, a few more this weekend & then more next week"...

Snowshoe has been getting Snow for a couple of hours now but Canaan is too far north.YET..The clipper we were talking about has edged even further south than we thought back when we talked about it.... & I see by the Boone,NC cams that they are loving life with a nice snowfall.

Like I said before, DC is pretty much out of the loop for this event but they should be getting some snow give or take mid month & everything else as far as the earlier post is still on...Snow & more snow & cold till further notice!..see some of y'all on the slopes soon!

I did this [censored] backward & was supposed to post the quote with the above post..

PS..+..Clipper went south of DC..all the way down to Raleigh,NC where it is snowing as I write!...You know it is a cold air mass when systems are pushed south like that..Global warming?....61 degrees below 0 up in russia ATM..
