I just love the time right before a ski trip. Packing food, prepping the van, waxing skis, good beer*, npr, and now... it's even snowing in Durham. This is awesome. Anyone else geeked by this scenario?

oh yeah, will be at snowshoe 12/20-12/23. internet messages should be ok. loose plan to meetup monday 2pm at shavers (look for tall dude in gray pants and gansta graphics twin tips).

* sierra nevada holiday ale. very hoppy, but good.

Pagamony, I love the rituals of ski prep, too. Even the end-of-season cleaning and stowing of the gear has its appeal.

'Wish I could get out to SS and ski some runs with the Pagamony Clan, but work is keeping me closer to the home front until the holidays.

Meanwhile, the geeks scored today. Lines not bad. Nearly perfect packed powder conditions under variable skies and light snow. Cupp run was tame with no moguls and not much powder so Camp 99 was just as fun. The most interesting terrain was a little mogul line under the balhooter lift. But that was no better than skiing greens with my 9 yr old and one of her best friends. Good trip so far.

is it kosher to double update your own thread?

Today, snowshoe was very good. cold, snowy, beautiful, and just enough skiers to not feel lonely. Hard to complain, no matter how hard I try.

good payoff for all that prep :-)
