HV Ski Patrol issues?
December 31, 2010
From the shout box"any word on hidden valley skipatrol and why the patrol walk out last weekend ?"
anybody any word on this?
They did????? I havent seen them that much in past week so that probably explains it. maybe hv management was giving them a hard time. Anybody know?????
I skied Friday and Saturday and the ski patrol was on the mountain. The conditions were supherb.
However, I think that the Buncher accountants in Pittsburgh are taking are controlling roll in the management of the resort. And I think these people are creating some problems. Hopefully Scott Bender will not get fed up.
I saw one member last night, but none today. It was pretty crowded today so they could have blended in.
There is a lot of things going on at the resort that don't make sense. The lack of ski patrol is one. The restaurants not being open and the lack of staff in place both for opening weekend and summer improvements to not being open at the same time as the other resorts in the area..... I don't blame the accountants/bigwigs in pgh, as they have allowed for millions in improvements and many are and have been home owners on the mountain for years. This is more than just business venture for these people. They have family ties to the resort just like we do, except now they have a business interest as well.
For damn near all of the problems I have seen so far, I blame Bender. The reason they couldn't open with the other resorts wasn't because of snow or lack thereof. It was the lack of staffing as a result of management dragging their feet. The reaturants not being opened or staffed, again managements fault. I personally know they guy that wired the new lifts. There was a long delay in getting that done over the summer as they dragged their feet and didn't plan it out. The guy that did it was called in a pinch as they needed it done ASAP because they let it go. There is a lot more stuff but I digress.
I don't trust Bender, nor do I think he was the right person for the job. I think bunched messed up hiring him. What about the girl that fell from the lift last night and was airlifted to hospital? Bender told the news channels that it was SOP to air lift the girl out as a precautionary measure. I call bs. Helicopter rides are not precautionary measures. Med evac is a trama emergency......
Don't get me wrong, I love hidden valley. I love bunched for saving it from its impending doom. But I don't think Bender is the Savior of the resort. I see it being mismanaged to a point that bunched will eventually wash its hands of it unless some major management changes are done...
I do have to say i am disapointed in the lack of ski patrol. altho yesterday when i was in the line to get on sunrise and a kids snowboard got caught on some snow and the chair broke his leg. within 5 minutes 6 patrolers were there. So if they arent patroling what are they doing??? Also any news on that girl who fell off the lift??
