Nothing like a last minute ski trip planning at 11:15 the night before. My brother-in-law and I bought a $35 half-day lift ticket today at CVR and had a dandy of a time.

Just a light blowing snow when we first got there, but it gave way to a beautiful bluebird sunny day. We made several runs all of over the mountain. There was LOTS of boot-deep untracked all over the mountain. Didn't even have to look hard. The best of it was to the skier's left on Meadow 3. Seemed to be deeper than anywhere else on the mountain. Drifts in some places were almost knee-deep. As it requires a little traversing, the trees on that side had 1-2 sets of tracks in them when I made it there. I made several AWESOME laps in that area and didn't see more than 2 or 3 people. It's a shame that I was alone and no one could see the big smile on my face. My bro in-law was newer on a snowboarding so he just went to Meadow 1 and met me at the lift after each run.

If you've had any doubt about whether the skiing here in WV is good or not, trust me. IT IS!!!

Here are a few shots

Skier's left of Meadow 3

Trees on the far side of Meadow 3. They're a little tight for my ability, but with all of the untracked in there they were lots of FUN!

LOTS of snow up top. I just read where it has been a record year for December Snowfall!

It's been years since I've skied Gravity.

Oh man... I'm drooling! I'm always amazed at how easy it is to find untracked powder stashes at CVR. Hopefully there won't be many powder hounds that read this thread wink

Thanks for sharing those pics!

If you see a giant 6'5 guy in a green columbia jacket falling over a lot, that would be me.. Gonna be up there for a few days as well.

When it's on, CVR is really, really fun, that's one of the best pics of Gravity I've ever seen, and much better snow than I've seen on it in person. sweet. thanks.

It's kind of last minute, but I'll be slumming it at CVR tomorrow doing the 9a-1p thing again. I'm pumped to be back out with my father, who hasn't skied for about 20 years. We should have a great time. Not sure how much we'll venture off of the greens, but if you happen to see me give me a shout. I'll be in my blue Spyder jacket with a gray helmet and on black K2 twin tips.

Couldn't hardly walk to the car this morning there was so much ice in the drive way. Decided it may not be a good idea to travel 2 hours to go skiing. Turned out to be a good choice. There was an 8 car pile-up not far from the house and the interstate was closed in 3 places because of wrecks. Nice morning to sleep in wink wink

Ok, should be there tomorrow. That's the plan at least.

Colonel, I'll look for you.

Well we overslept a little, but decided to go to whitetail versus TLine. Had about 30 seconds of a drizzle, but that was it. Driving through ice just didn't seem worth it for a day trip.
