I see that CV finally opened the Weiss Meadows, Dark Side and the rest of the "outer" runs. They're my favorites, so I wait 'til they're up and running before heading out to Canaan Valley. (Great disappointment last year on an epic early-January powder day only to find those runs blocked off and, ironically, snow guns blasting away there... despite assurances on the website and that DSOTM, etc., would be open.)

Anyway ... how are the Meadows and Dark Side these days?

Thanks,
Woody

As of Tuesday, all of those runs are in awesome shape. Tons of snow has filled in the whole area. They were all open too, with not a snowmaker in sight. Here are a few shots I took while skiing there on Tuesday. Check THIS out for a report from Tues.

Skier's left of Meadow 3. This whole area was boot deep.

Trees on the far side of Meadow 3. Areas in there were drifted up to my knees.

I'm sure DSOTM was in good shape too, but I usually try not to venture over that way. I hate the long run out and having to ride the beginner's lift back to the main lift area.

Exactly what I do any time I ski CVR. I alway buy my ticket then drive down and park right next to the beginner lift. Walk right to the lift and ride up & ski down to the main lift. End of the day just take a run down DSOTM or the bunny slope and you're right back to the car. Hardly any walking at all. And you never have to walk up that stupid hill outside of the lodge!!!

I acually drive my SUV right up to the ski rack..but you didn't hear that here!

Speaking of that hill...I was so hoping that when they leveled the old lodge that we would be able to fly down that last steep part before the lifts..thru where the lifts are now & then slam down that last steep where the lodge sits now & into the parking lot area where the base & new Lodge SHOULD be NOW mad...I would SOOO love to redesign that mountain which has so much potential & that I also feel it is as scenic as any mountain on the east coast or anywhere for that matter...great looks come in all kinds of shapes & sizes!
