Back from a great day at CV. I decided on CV over TL based on some vague notion that CV might be less tracked out. Things worked out pretty well - Dark Side, Prosperity, and Weiss Meadows all had a decent amount of only lightly skied powder on the sides of the trails. I appreciated the opportunity to make powder turns without having to dodge trees. Typically I make it out to TL the day after JohnL and company have devoured much of the good stuff, so I end up spending much of my time in the TL glades looking for pockets of untracked. That's fun, but the chance to make powder turns unconstrained by the trees was nice.
I should also say that this was only my second time at CV, so yesterday was also a chance to form opinions about the place. Definitely less steep than TL, although I should say that Gravity was closed. The upper part of the C Liftline run was fun. My takeaway is that CV is a great, great place when there is a lot of snow, but on those days when powder skiing opportunities are absent TL will have more to offer (Thunderstruck+OTW+The Drop > Gravity + C Liftline).
Oh, does anyone know why Prosperity is not marked on the trail map? Seemed odd to me.
Anyway, it was really a great, great day. It's just so cool on the drive out seeing each valley get snowier and snowier until you finally reach THE Valley and find a winter paradise. It amazed me the first time I did the drive 7 years ago and it amazes me still every time I go out there.

most likely because the lower half of prosperity is technically "closed" (roped off) because it runs into the tubing park? there was nice powder onlower prosperity when we were escorted down it a while back
We were pretty much able to find fresh lines down the mountain the entire day Sunday. Started out with 4 sweet laps down c lift line then moved over to the meadows and dark side for a while. I'm always amazed at how quiet CVR is...

Yeah, too bad it is technically closed - totally kept me from getting some of that sweet pow (but stay away from skier's right until we get more snow, sorta rocky over there).
Ha... He sure did... And believe it or not it ripped off while he was going down lower prosperity! Thankfully the ski veered off into the woods and not down the tube park, yikes!
