Is there any cross country skiing at WTG? possaibly down on the golf course or overflow areas?

Other will probably chime in, but I would say "no". Last year I'm sure there were opportunities, but generally there is little snow in the area apart from what is made at the resort...just to provide some perspective, while everyone else has been getting dumped on I am pretty sure that WTG has had very little natural this week.

Have never heard that mentioned as an option. WGO is right...they recieved 93" of snow last year but normal is below 40". I would post the question on Wintergreen's facebook wall. They are pretty good about answering questions like this.

The road that runs by the main WTG entrance goes on to cross the blue ridge parkway in a couple of miles. If there is snow, you might find a few cars parked there and the skiers are on the parkway. yep.

For sure there are "off the property" options out there, but as stated, the area just does not get that much snow.

I have hiked just about every mile of trail on the property and most are not suitable for XC. There is one possibility and that is the Cedar Cliffs Trail that runs downhill from the end of the tubing park road to Cedar Cliffs. You start on the dirt road where the paintball area is and then head down a little bit and then it turns off the road and heads down to the cliff. It is a steady grade down the ridge to the cliffs and a wide trail without much in the way of rocks.

Also, there is a nice view of the Highlands from the cliff and lower trail that will make you hurry back to get to the slopes.

Note that TWNF officially closes some trails during the winter and I am not sure if this is one of them.
