...was schweet! Plenty of new and lack of early morning crowds made for a great few hours of skiing.

My buddy and I sat at the top of Widowmaker waiting for the ropes to drop. The patroller came over and said we were more than welcome to go ahead and take a run. And did we ever! Not a soul had touched any of the boot deep powder when we got to it. It was one of my more favorite runs ever. We then venture over and skied Camp 99 and Sawmill a few times, which were both just as deep and hardly even touched. After making several runs off of the Ballhooter lift we went back to the Widowmaker lift and made several more runs over there. Sawmill Glades stayed sweet for every run. Some of the other stuff got a little choppy. We ended with making about 5 consecutive runs under the lift on Widowmaker. It was some of the more fun skiing I've done in a while. The snow was great (and deep) and there were plenty of places to catch a little bit of air, and land softly into more powder.

Yesterday was definitely one of the funnest days I've ever had at Snowshoe. I was very surprised and impressed at the amount of snow they had left alone and not groomed. Kudos to the Shoe! Unfortunately the snowfall didn't stick around, as it was sunny and clear by 10:30.

Didn't take many pics, but here a couple.

My 3rd or 4th run down Camp 99. My skiing sucks, but the skiing was great!

Widowmaker around 9:30AM

Widowmaker again at 10:30AM

7S TR 1/22/2011
I'm new to this so if I jumped in on the wrong thread, many apoligies. Skied 7S yesterday with my friend Paul and we had a great day. Bluebird sky, cold, cold, cold. -2 @ 9:00am and 21 when we left at 2:30pm. Low crowd, awesome groomed packed powder. A few stashes of boot deep powder if you knew where to look. Most lift runs were pretty well skied off and bumped up. All in all a thumbs up day.

Dang Charlie, are all you Wheeling boys born in the same week? Were your mom's happy to see spring finally arrive? grin

On a somewhat serious note, how did Timberline treat you over the MLK weekend?

As an FYI, David was a one-year member of the Bonner Mountain Chateaux that Mr. Jimmy frequented in his past life. You may already know this...

And feel free to hijack David's threads. (Thanks for the video David.) His "stop" reminded me of one of his stops at Timberline that almost ended my skiing career.

Ended your career? It wouldn't take more than 1 season to recover from bilateral ACL reconstruction. You'd have been back out there in no time! wink smile

I'd have to wait 5 more years or so until you become a surgeon and could do the repair for FREE!

Yep. Skiing a minimum of Sat/Sun; tune-up for a Utah trip the following week. cool Give me a call if you're up in The Valley, cell # is still the same. Out sick this weekend. I've only missed this weekend and Xmas; 13 days so far, so I can't complain.

JohnL, you should come to Wheeling on the 3rd week of Jan. They bake a giant BD cake at Wesbanco Arena and all us Wheeling boys have one big BD celebration. MLK weekend was great, good snow, good food, good beer, meet some good folks, got some good ski tips. I told Jimmie I was sorry I didn't get to ski with you. Jimmie says "If you want to ski with JohnL you need a chainsaw!"
