Wow, it was great. After 15 hours at work on Wed in our Snowmageddon, I left Herndon area ~8:15 and was on the slopes by 10:30 after taking Toll Rd to Rt 7 to 81. Packed Powder on Rt 7 boded well for the skiing.

Crowds very very light (I was there last Saturday . . . most crowded I have seen in a while). Everything was great, skiers right off the HS Quad was not groomed (taste of skiing at Alta). Skiers left off Expert lift was not groomed. Lots of hits, small "edge of the run" jumps, tree runs, etc. Right side of the trail on Limelight developed some nice natural "mogul-lites."

You have to ask someone else about the mogul runs, but lots of good skiers on Exhibition to watch.

EMPTY, EMPTY, AND MORE EMPTY RUNS.

Terrain park was nice and soft too.

I can tell it was a good day when my thighs hurt at work the next day. Skied 6 1/2 hours. Drove home same way as we came in and barly used my windsheild wipers so the roads were almost dry.

Shout out to the staff at Whitetail for great work and to the staff at Waffle House, exit 12 on 81 in WV (a great way to end the day with an All-star menu selection).

Hopefully will get back soon.

Whitetail did a fine job with the runs. Leaving Fanciful and Far Side ungroomed provided a variety of conditions to choose from. Slopes were uncrowded, as wojo said.

Also, the approach road through the Blair Valley was in good shape. (BTW the uh, obelisk sculpture was being erected along the road as we left around 4pm.)

A great Snow Day!

I have not been up there yet when there was a full snowfall to view the artistic work. Some fraternity brothers of mine had a strikingly similar artistic urge in front of the fraternity house many years ago.
