Sleigh riding at home - by Connie Lawn
January 31, 2011
Don't forget how much fun sleigh riding is! I have taken a few runs each day; it is fun, fast, and exciting. When it snows, I carry a cheap plastic sleigh in the car - next to the skis. I am often the only adult on the run. I tell the kids I am training for the Olympics. Great fun on the way to work and back. And, a wonderful break from the troubles of the world! Yours, Connie Lawn
When I Was a kid in Morocco, North Africa we would head up into the Atlas mountains (From palm trees to whatever type of evergreens that grew there)...To go Skiing. We had leather straps for Bindings back then, but that is not why I am responding to post...
There were nice areas on the mountain sides where large gatherings would get together for Tobagganing...that was the type of sled used....Fun times..
Back here in the US & especially up in canaan valley for me....there are 0 sleders around. No ice Skaters on local ponds..Ect...
We used to sled every oportunity back in the 70/80's in Beltsville,Md. Its Always been a bummer to me to see no kids out having fun like me & the boys used to have.....Are they just hangin out inside with the technology or are there just not any kids out there..Are the norskies a Dying Breed??
Nice to hear from you Connie. We have missed you.
My 5 yr old sending it.
Fish,
Go to Black Water Falls State Park and enjoy sledding. They have a sledding hill serviced by a rope tow or will give you a pull up behind a snowmobile. You can even rent sleds and other sliding devices.

I love the sledding trails in Europe. When I skied Verbier I spent an afternoon sledding. It was awesome the trails were long and crossed the ski trails at serveal points. lots of fun!
