Woa!

I didn't think I'd ever live to see a base in the trees like last year, but this year's January base may be ahead of last year's January base. Timberline (and I'm sure Canaan Valley) is just one big playground from end to end and everything in between. Plus beyond the ends. There is fun, fun, fun, fun adventure and great lines in the trees. And I missed the Thursday/Friday pow fest. On Sunday, bumps galore on the double blacks.

Got to ski with DCSkiers Wgo, David, Jimmy, TomH and a bunch of the T-Line mafia this past weekend. Saw a bunch of others on the slopes or hanging out drinking beers. Bill, you hit the money day this weekend since things got a bit mushy in the trees on Sunday. And get some skis 90mm underfoot! Don't you have a birthday coming up soon?

From my guesswork, this past Saturday was the busiest of this past year, including holidays. Sunday AM was busy, but it quieted down a lot in the PM. I'm sure T-Line ownership is pleased.

Definitely a great weekend of skiing and spending time with friends. It was great to meet Bill (wgo) and spend the afternoon playing in the trees with him. There is an INCREDIBLE amount of snow up there. Just amazing.

Took just a few quick pictures this morning. The light was crappy, so they aren't great.

JohnL on OTW on my 2nd to last run today.

OTW (not sure how well you can make out the bumps)

The back deck at The Chateau de Jimmy yesterday morning.

John, David,

It was really great skiing with you guys this Saturday. I'll definitely be out there again sometime this season, hopefully we can get together for round 2.

John, so you decided not to do the single lift ticket at CV on Sunday?

Yeah, the goods were deep and plentiful. Jimmy got me into some trouble on a run Saturday afternoon as we checked out a less visited run wink. I came out of my downhill ski and took a twisting tumble. With the snow somewhere between 3 and 4 feet deep and the pitch of the terrain, it was difficult to right myself, find my skis, poles and then get somewhere to get it all on again. :blush If folks missed these near epic conditions I doubt if they will be like this again this season.

John,

From what I hear they had a better weekend than MLK weekend. So Doc definitely is happy. But not as happy as the skiers - conditions are unbelievable. I have to ditch Maria for an afternoon one of these weekends and hook up with you guys.

See everyone next weekend.

Holy mackerel it was every bit as good as the others here said. I don't think there is a part of the mountain where two skis can pass that is not skiable. I kept thinking that there must be something nasty underfoot (and of course there was, several feet under) but at the end of the day my ski bases looked same as in the morning. Just awesome skiing.

ski conditions everywhere in canaan were about as good as it gets. when we get coastal storms like last week, it fills in everything that normally isn't, because of the wind direction, and everything seems bottomless. i skied a few runs at tline last fri night and had a blast!
