OK, time to plan the DCSki rendevous for this upcoming Timberline weekend. In the past we have met at the top of the orange chair lift at 10:30, and again at 1:30; and we have met at the Ski School corral at similar times in some years.
Jimmy, you are the mayor, what say you?!
We have also suggested tieing red or yellow ribbons to gloves, or poles, or jacket so other DCSkiers can recognize one another.
And who is going to be there?
The Colonel, Jimmy, Kim, JimK on Sun only, JohnL, and?????

at the BK GTG, I said I would attend, but now I have something else going on Saturday afternoon. If I am recovered by Sunday, I might come down.

Meeting location at the bottom of the mountain is always preferable to a meet-up at the top. (More convenient and comfortable to wait around.) Also, I'd recommend meeting at the Ski School lesson area at the bottom (uphill side of the fence) since many DCSki posters are T-Line instructors and we have access to two different lifts. Sometimes the bottom "orange" lift can have heinous lines.

I'd suggest times of 10 AM and 1:30 PM (Sat and Sun.) Note that sometimes the afternoon meet-up is not always strictly adhered to, but the morning one is.

Also, I'd hazard a guess that just about anyone who is likely to attend recognizes the rest of the DCSki group. If not, if you see a large group of reckless skiers, it is likely us.

I'm not the mayor, but I get paid for keeping Jimmy out of trouble. Tough job, but somebody has to do it. grin

Sunday. I'll ski under the lift with my ipod turned down. Holler at me.

I'll enter the bump contest if anyone else here does. It will be my first day of real skiing this season. Please don't anyone else here enter the bump contest. Yikes. Last place, no injury would be a victory for me.

I just hope I can hold myself back because crashing has been a big part of my style, and I want to change that. On the other hand, being too cautious caused my injury and I'll try to avoid that as well. Leaving my snowboard at home will help with all that. I'll ride again, just not yet.

Rod you really shouldn't even bother coming up here because..."I once skied T-line with a foot of fresh and was pretty much the only person there who could manage the conditions....Your mountain is kind of flat ... Oh and, I've never had my lift ticket marked with a big black X and/or been threatened with expulsion for skiing between trails except at Timberline. "

If that means you're challenging me to the bump contest, it's on!

...tweaked myself and done over for this season, but if anyone enters the ponyshow you shouldn't have any problem woopin' up on them since you will be the only one there that can manage those conditions...just be sure to announce that no-one at t-line can ski a foot of pow as you drop in...but seriously, I hope you have a great time at t-line...

Look for a sipping and swilling group near the condos by the queen Saturday PM. Some of us join that group for some "adult beverage" is the weather is good. I have an early afternoon meeting with the HOA but will play hookie to catch some runs with folks making it up for the day. grin

Sunday looks fantastic with some true corn snow since the temps are forecast to be below freezing Sat night.

Rain looks like it will be before and after the main festivities.

I got a little excited there.

This will be my first day of downhill skiing this year other than a couple days with my niece where I stayed on easier terrain.

I don't think Sunday would be a good day to enter my first mogul comp. If anyone wants to call my bluff though, I will do it. I'm obviously not afraid to make a fool of myself online, why not in real life, too!?

Tucker, sorry about the bad review I posted of your resort. The day I mentioned with the fresh powder was one of the best I've had in the mid-atlantic and I know you get a lot of days like that out there. smile

Rod, you're such a bad [censored] online. See you Sunday and no I'm not going to do the bump contest but I bet VinceK will. This season both him and his dad kick my but in the bumps, on the steeps and I could barely keep up with them on the groomed stuff. Ah but they didn't do it on tele-boards so you might be able to run with those dogs.

So I get ready to sign up for the bump contest and ask how many people have entered. I was told 16.
Fair enough, I figured I would just have some fun on the Drop, so I enter.
I come in last (or second place) in the tele division.
$20 gift for the retail shop - which comes in perfectly after loosing my Red Bull.

Congrats, Ludo. I'm pretty sure I could have taken third in Telemark division, but I wimped out, failed to enter. I'm not sure what I was afraid of, but I was afraid.

VinceK and SCWVA stepped up to the start line and both skied well from what I could see. The top placed Telemarker was pretty good. I didn't see your run, but I saw you.

I enjoy your pictures. Nice to see you in front of the camera. smile

Those guys are a lot of fun to ski with. Did a couple of runs with them Saturday evening before I ran into you, Chip, and the rest of your posse. Lots of free spirits out Saturday evening.

Wonder if Doc is going to pay us for grooming the bumps on the The Drop for him?

For a few weeks I was worried we wouldn't have bumps to ski but ma nature has created some mighty fine corn to feed the little bumpkins.

There are a few shots from Sunday, including some I added of SCWVA and Kwill at this thread:

You guys are blessed to get to ski that place on a regular basis!
