Near perfect weekend for the locals @ t-line
April 2, 2011
For those folks who don't know, t-line has a "locals" weekend at the closing. It is where those of us who frequent the mountain all season have a great time skiing, sipping, swilling, racing, and joining in on the festivities once patrol closes the lifts. The 2" of fresh Saturday night made the surface as good as it gets considering all the rain and warmth of the past several weeks. Ski school had its usual AM groups on Saturday, but lessons slowed down to give all of us the needed/wanted time on snow for last turns. There was the cookout on Saturday evening which went until dark and then the local's cup race on Sunday.
Ski school recognitions were surprises to some of us, right Jimmy? And a kick a$$ band for the party which followed. My only complaint is that we have to wait until December to start it again. My hat's off to Bobby Snyder and company who hosted the festivities.
It was near perfect for non-locals too, shame there weren't many there. I thought Sunday was kindof strange for a closing day, grey skies, cold, all the trails still open.
But hey... Saturday brought over 12 inches - and tomorrow morning should be EPIC in the backcountry
