The official 7S snow sport email says skiing front side Avalanche and Tyrol lifts only, no April fools joke. Front side skiing and pond skimming contest too, see you there!

You just made my son VERY happy.

I guess this will be my last ski trip of the season ..... for the 3rd time now.

The weather forecast from now up until Saturday in the Laurels calls for highs less than 40 with precipitation mostly as snow. Wouldn't be surprised if there is a couple of fresh inches for you diehards. Have fun.

Way to go 7Springs... I know there has been a lot (understatement) of complaining about the resort but I for one view this as a very huge plus for them!

Hopefully they will continue to have enough food and drink for the weekend on site.. and at spring discount rates! :-) Yes I want it all!

If by that you mean Seven Springs will not pass on an opportunity to make some quick cash then I agree. I wonder if they'll charge preferred parking rates at the Alpine Meadow lot. wink

Come on...you have commend them for at least seeing an opportunity and taking the initiative to act on it.

As far as the parking fees and the inflated lift ticket prices, they can only charge it if someone will pay. One can vote with their pocketbook and not go. This coming from someone headed to Disneyworld next week with 2 kids to pay lots of money for tickets to stand in line all day.

I'm fine with 7S making money but to think they are opening solely for the delight of the hardcore skier is a bit much, don't you think? Maybe Bob will dedicate the proceeds of the preferred parking fee for opening Laurel Mountain. Now that would be a modest gesture that would make me smile. grin

This Saturday is also the Spring's pond skim, so other than a couple of lifties all the other staff was going to be there anyway. So yippee day number 55 coming up!

I think Bob wants to make a few dolars to invest in a quality starting pitcher....not really.

While JohnL and jimmy are headed out to Summit County to ski with a huge posse, I just got back from Seven Springs and about 4-6 inches of heavy spring snow. Your prototypical resort intermediate skier use to groomed runs found difficult conditions on the main slopes today. I didn't get there early enough to ski the untracked souffle. By time I got there lumpy mash 'tatters were on the table. I did find some untracked in the front side pocket glades though. I had fun. We meet up with VinceK for several runs. Funny, I forgot to watch the pond skim. Word is they will open tomorrow too. Snow was still falling when I left at 3:30 but not sure how much more was to come. Still one more day to get some lift served turns here in PA...AND GUESS WHAT? The Pirates won their opening game and are in first place.

Hey Rob. I think there is a better chance of 7S opening for skiing on August 15th than the Pirates not being mathematically eliminated from the Central Division pennant race on that same date.

You give them that long before their eliminated? I would think their fate will be sealed by the end of June.
