...with the new 9" of snow in the last 2 days Canaan hits 200"...still snowing hard...I'm sure lots of folks will be hikin' for turns today...
I just read your post Tucker..AFTER I posted about it on the Just for fun thread..my Bad..
Kick [censored] though!!
...it's been poundin' huge flakes for the last few hours...we easily have a few more inches...still snowing hard...
Snow and rain showers. Snow accumulation around an inch..
That is the NWS F-cast for Your Co tucker..Tucker Co that is..Tucker.
The temp looks like it has risen to just below Freezing at the valley floor..wunder if it can hang tough thru the aft?
32 at TL now
From Dave L's site:
" Apr 02 1250PM Currently light snow and 29F. New snow since 7AM 4.4 inches. Very heavy snow squall nearly an hour long in late morning."
Storm total 13.3"
There was another burst of snow very early this morn (4/5am?) that this dodo brain followed all the way from just south of Chicago
Well...this storm was advertised as the BIG dump for New england but the most Snow that I can find was 13 inches at Wildcat,NH & a foot at Sunday River,Ma with only a half foot at Stowe...Lil ole Canaan busts em up Again!!...Another squall as I write..
PS..Apr 02 400PM Currently light snow and 29F. -SN VRBL SN VRBL +SN. New snow since 1PM 2.7 inches. Snowboard not swept
That makes it 15.10 inches for storm total so far..probably wind down with the setting sun...
Crap... why on earth didn't I head over there today! I ended up going out for a mtn bike ride in the mountains west of Harrisonburg today and froze my tail off when we got caught in a some snow squalls that made it over the WV alpps!
I wonder how conditions will hold up tomorrow? I see they're still calling for a high in the 50's in CV...
I bet the turns at Timberline will be pretty sweet tomorrow.
Weather forecast says that the temperatures will get warmer by the minute for Sunday. I'd get out early, ski all day with blue skies all over Canaan Valley
...20" total out of that cycle...there are lots of boot packs at t-line...and from the pics on the whitegrass web site it looks like it's pretty sweet over there to...should be corn skiing around till late april/may...
Hmm... looks like a gorgeous bluebird day in the valley. I'd be over there skiing today if it wasn't for this bad cold I woke up with, nuts!
20" out of that storm is crazy! I still can't believe how badly the NWS botched that forecast. It was interesting to read Dave Lesher's summary of the weather yesterday:
Apr 02 - Snow commenced again at 3AM with a heavy snow squall with thunder before daybreak, diminishing to a steady light snow during the morning. Moderate to often heavy snow commenced late morning and continued through mid afternoon, gradually diminishing to mostly light and moderate snow by early evening, then light snow through the evening. Heavy snow squalls during the day often dropped visibility to near zero. Thunder was heard several times, including once during the evening when the event was winding down. One of the most interesting weather days in the nearly ten years that daily obs have been taken here, particularly in view of the fact that the NWS forecast never mentioned the possibility of it, even during the height of the storm.
Yeh Abe..I saw that as well & posted it on some E-Mails & onto a facebook site full of DC folk that have'nt a clue what goes on up there...Canaan Valley,WV..Home to the Worlds most under Reported Snow!
skied all day yesterday at wg then a late afternoon run at tline on the drop it looked flat, but the big bumps were still there which made for some crazy skiing! today we did 4 runs at tline and it got mankier each run and pretty crazy challenging to ski but still fun for sure.
i also just heard a rumour about 8-12" midweek on the backside of the rain event?!
Went below freezing above 4200' 6ish this Morn & now it looks like the Snow level has dropped to the valley floor..
This was the event that kept popping up on the weather models a good many moons ago but i'm not feeling the "Big one"..a few inches to coat the Man Enhanced glaciers..Famous last words?
PS...Just noticed a large Spider crossing over the Cam at CV just as the Ground was begining to turn White...Confused Spider??...we should Name him..AL
...70 F yesterday...crazy thunderstorms last night...snowing hard again on the valley floor now...
Keep us informed of how much today. I'm in awe over these crazy swings in weather. Wish I were there. Enjoy it while it's there. We hit 87 in downtown Reva, VA yesterday. Big t-storms around 3ish this AM.
Took the bike out here yesterday. It was 78 degrees. And yes, I was pretty certain I was going to die last night around 3-4am. It's flurrying right now. The northern part of Greenbrier County has almost 2" on the ground. It's Global STORMING I tell ya!!
What is it about spring that brings out the spam? I guess flowers and weeds both sprout from winter's snow melt.
Yeah, no kidding. I've been swatting them away like flies until I have a chance to implement a better way of weeding them out. I think these are actual people registering these accounts (probably from some far away country, who don't speak English) who get paid a tiny amount of money for doing this -- that's the latest "fad" in spam as it gets around Turing tests. Annoying. I hope to redesign DCSki this summer, and part of that may include requiring manual vetting of users before they can post.
