VT/NY Sking April 16-17
April 20, 2011
I actually have an open weekend coming up and want to see if any eastern skiing is available within 10 hours of Cleveland. I am checking Killington, Sugarbush, and Whiteface. I think Stowe and Jay Peak are too far of a drive but may consider. Anyone have insights regarding the amount of terrain that might be available, will it be worth the effort? Late season how does the canyon quad terrain at Killington hold up vs Sugarbush or Whiteface?
Denis- your recent updates on Stowe/MRG have been great - I wish I could have made it this past weekend instead of the upcoming.

Given where you are I'd say Whiteface. They have had great snow all year and last weekend the slides were open.
http://list.uvm.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind1104B&L=SKIVT-L&D=1&T=0&O=D&P=19691 The summit lift at Whiteface is a great place for spring skiing. 1900 vertical feet on that one lift, beautiful views and you never have to come down to the base unless you want to.
Did you ski last weekend? Where? How was it?
Denis-
Unfortunately I did not make it. I was planning on Whiteface based on your tips but the forecast was for sustained rain and heavy winds. It turns our Whiteface was open Sat and Sun but the summit chair was closed due to the winds and the slides were not open. Their website mentioned the slides had only been open 12 days this year. Based on some youtube videos it looks like great terrain that I hope to hit next year.
Thanks for all the insight - even when I can't get out I still like gettign the insider tips.
