It's an annual event with a long history.

4/16 - Conditions were horrible. It was a great day. Rock hard ice with loose piles of heavy granular man made snow on top. About 30 people showed up, a majority of Stowe's paying customers today. If I had been by myself I would have taken 1 or 2 runs and quit. Everybody said that. Instead we all had a blast feeding on group energy and skiing insane surfaces at insane speeds. Patrick (10)

http://benjamindbloom.smugmug.com/Sports...41_fPbNPCk-A-LB were their usual crazy selves. Daniel face planted on the ice and cut his lip but he didn't care; hard cores don't.
The chapel in the woods has a wall. Cool!

http://benjamindbloom.smugmug.com/Sports...00_9ZKzjvK-A-LB4/17 A much different day. It was 20 deg. at the summit when we left yesterday, 33 and raining this morning. The surfaces were buttery smooth. It had been groomed overnight and collected a bit of windblown snow overnight. The wind picked up steadily and the temp slowly dropped as it started snowing and the rain snow line moved down, reaching the base at noon. The snow began to stiffen. Only Rich showed up and we had a good day until we both began to get wet & cold. It was Stowe's final day and only a few dozen people were there. Coverage is essentially complete all over and at least 2 weeks of good skinning & skiing remain.
