David, special treat for those who look into this thread.

These are long lost photos from the 1930s. Not published for decades until about a month ago by Boston Globe:

Babe Ruth with young fans: http://www.snowjournal.com/images/gallery_snowjournal/4dc1b11a24535.jpg

Ted Williams at an exhibition game during his rookie year 1939:

Another from Ted's rookie year, already mastered his homerun trot:

One for Fishnski:
This is Cape Lookout Light Station, near Beaufort, NC, about 50 miles southwest of Cape Hatteras. Taken by yours truly six days ago.
Gotta take a 25 minute boat ride to get there, but a fair number of fishermen ferry their 4x4 campers out for 55 miles of surf fishing on Cape Lookout National Seashore - bluefish, red drum, striped bass, black drum, flounder, pompano, kingfish (sea mullet), speckled trout, gray trout (weakfish), and a dozen other species.

Nc has the best beaches on the east Coast IMHO..with the Cape Lookout down to the Cape Fear (My camp) being the finest of the fine.
Theres a snorkle hole tucked in by the Cape there Mr K that can get real clear water..Bahamas light I call such places when conditions are right!
Just off of the Cape there are a couple of Shipwrecks that can get up to 100 foot visibility with tropical type fish & corals due to the Gulf stream.
Wild Pony's next island over at shackleford Banks & at carrot island..watch out for the pirates!

Well, I was out of town. Returned from Mt. Hood shortly after midnight last night. I'll get a trip report together.

How the hell did that skinny dude hit 521 home runs? Man if they'd had juice in the 50's....

Back to the beach sub-thread.... I was camping at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge on April 20-22. Great place: cold showers, tiny sites, blowing sand, sand burs, prickly pears, bleeding feet, cold winds, misty rain, no trees for cover, nightly mosquito invasion, but the beach is 20 steps away, the coffee is warm, and the greatest views in the world are all around. I love it!
