Does anyone have a suggestion for a campground location for dolly sods? I'm pulling a 30' travel trailer and interested in hiking. Thanks

Not sure that Red Creek Campground is suited for a 30' trailer. Nor would the forest road to get there. Not sure where would be a good place to park something that big. I'd recommend tent camping at RCC. One of the best campgrounds in the state.

Seneca Shadows campground should work just fine for a 30' trailer. The campground is probably a 20m drive south of Dolly Sods but not too far away. In addition the scenery along the way makes the drive worth it.

Yeah, the roads up to the sods don't seem so suited for a trailer that size...but I'm sure its possible. I'd say set up base camp on the seneca/petersburg side or canaan valley state park.

Tucker has it right:
Setting up in Canaan Valley State park is ideal. From there, grab your truck, drive 6 easy miles on the main road, park, and you'll reach Dolly Sods with:
840 of climbing (approximately 1 mile).
Do you have:
A map
People to go with
Snowshoes / skis
Camera
Emergency gear
You may have all the above but Dolly Sods is Wilderness (true wilderness) - and the winter isn't "an easy walk in the park" up there.
