I went to Rudy's ski sale yesterday, it was in the Wisp lodge. They had a huge selection of clothing, boots, and helmets. None of the skis interested me, except a pair of Line Prophet 100, 179cm for $399, didn't buy them as they are little short for me. I did buy the kiddies and myself some new ski socks.

BTW - They did have some tele & xc gear for sale, but mostly bindings & some boots.

No they're not, especially locally! Join the new millenium my man; even I've dumped my Pocket Rockets. You'll be skiing on the bottom of your boot soon, so don't procrastinate too long.

Not saying that was the best price for those skis.

Agreed, the Prophets 100 in a 179 would be what I'd ski but I'm not going to spend $400 ski this year let alone a non-rockered ski.

Doooood, you should remember, you had your hands on them in a drunken ski waxing session. Think back to a happy time. grin

I need to get rid of my Head Monster IM 75's, so the Ski Center swap should be a good one to hit.

If Alpine have an early-bird drop off , I think I might take advantage of it.

Why?

Date?
Volume?
Better terms?

They're the guys that used to have a location in Oakton, correct?

It's a 2-day swap on a nice-ish weekend, on an earlier date (Ski Center remains an option). The volume is lower than at Ski Center so there is very little chance people will simply skip over your stuff or not notice it. The stuff I have is functionally not equivalent to anything the shop has and priced at a pricepoint the shop has no interest in matching (they have no rentals to get rid of).

The store is right next to the W&OD trail so I can skate right there.

Correct. Decent collection of soft goods at non-Kjus prices. Intermediate, AMC and jibber-oriented hard goods collection.

You might want to call Alpine and confirm that swap date. I have 10/8-10/9 and 11/5-11/6 for the swap dates. At least those are the ones they are doing with Timberline Ski Patrol, they may have more on the schedule.

wvrocks, i'm betting you're right.

Alpine's Facebook confirms that there is a sample sale Saturday, but I have not confirmed a swap.

And it means I can make my Saturday ride smile

Next up, Ski Chalet in Gaithersburg on Saturday, Nov. 5. Run by the Whitetail Ski Patrol, in place of our long running one at Ski Chalet's now closed Arlington location. Should be a good move, with more space and more stuff. Drop on by. Weather looks great (albeit no snow). From the Ski Chalet website:

Ski Chalet Hosts Ski Swaps
When: November 5th, 2011 | Where: Ski Chalet
Ski Chalet hosts Swaps as a community service for local skiers & snowboarders who want to sell, buy, or recycle used gear.

Here's how it works: Bring in your old ski and snowboard gear and/or apparel Saturday, November 5th at 8:00 AM to the Gaithersburg Ski Chalet. Sorry, no early drop offs. Come back to the store no later than 4:00 PM to see if your gear sold. If it sells, the host ski patrol (Whitetail) will mail you a check. If your gear does not sell, you may donate it or take it with you.

Please call the store with any questions at 301-948-5200. Any post-swap questions, please call Whitetail Ski Patrol (Gaithersburg Swap. A portion of the sales are donated to local non-profit volunteer Ski Patrol organizations.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support Timberline Ski Patrol at the Alpine Ski Shop Swap this weekend. We had great weather and tons of nice used gear. Thanks for making it a very successful swap!
