Snowflakes should fly in W.Va. this weekend

(AP) SNOWSHOE, W.Va. - Ski season is still eight weeks away, but they're already thinking winter at Snowshoe Mountain Resort.

Snowflakes are forecast to fly in Pocahontas County starting late Friday night and again on Saturday night. Snowshoe says some forecast models are calling for more than 1 inch of total accumulation.

Lows both nights are expected to dip into the lower 30s in Pocahontas County, and in the 20s in the highest areas.

Mother Nature seems to be a bit out of order. Most of the state has yet to approach the peak of fall foliage season, although the colors are getting there on the mountaintops.

Urrr a little slow to the draw there mr 58... I predicted this snow back on the 25th on the "its that time" thread..(way before there was even a hint from any weather service)...This Rocket Sturgeon will not allow that to go unnoticed..I have no character!

...will be a few more than an inch higher up...would be more than that if the ground wasn't so warm..

Camping in the Sods??

While they are doing what they always do at Snowshoe "talk about snow", if we get an inch we will be riding it here in the valley. Decks+Tarps=Jibs!

I have seen early snow in Oct while bow hunting the "hinterlands" before. Time to get the garden squared away before the next rain storm.

Sorry. I'm always the last to know.

Best wishes.
