Thanks chaga...need donations for the Cam?
I figured it was coming down about 2.4 inches an hour for the 1st hour & a half.

I think it will last longer than that Bumps..Come on..This is the Magical Land of canaan!!

WG can use donations. Chippy wants to do a high mountain snowcam, and it spec's out to $2000.

another inch since the last pic! no chance of school tomorrow which means ski day. best job perk i ever had!

Todd, is Chip doing the free skiing thing this year before Christmas? If so does that include rentals? I don't want to mislead a friend of mine.

yes fishnski, it's slightly above 4200'. (look on wg topo map. 'snaggletooth' trail is the decided spot) david, the dec deal is locals ski free with discounted rentals (which are already discounted imo) till xmas.

snow tapering off the past hour. a little colder and winds picking up to dry it out for better pow tomorrow! im about 3300' or so, but dave lesher probably has more 500' higher

The Cam You got is in a great spot because it seems to be right on the money..Dave just cked in with 2.6 as of 1 pm.

Elkins just dropped down to a half mile visibility which usually means that canaan will see some heavier stuff soon.

Ok...now down to .02 mile Vis & Heavy Snow at elkins..Its a comin!

short intermittent heavy bands with light snow in between so far. surely this storm can out-do the current 2hr school delay for tomorrow?!

West,WSW & occasional WNW winds all day.We need a good NW fetch to see the heavier stuff.
The TL Cam Looks like it has gotten a little heavier in the last hour..Speaking of Heavy..How bout the Man Made blizzard TL had going on at the Base today?!!

The Thinking is that we will see more of a NW fetch tonite coming in with another colder shot of air & energy.looking at the last 2 hours of water Vapor Imagery it looks like it is on the Doorstep...
This WV Lake Effect/Upslope with embedded pieces of energy is a tuff one to figure out..it just seems to do what it pleases & just when you think it is over it picks back up or vise versa.
Tomorrow could be a day where the Suns energy can stir it up..how many times have we seen the snow pick up around 10 am or so.

At least its Snowing!!...

just a little feedback on your measuring equipment from this side of the cam...not a bad thing, but its hard to read the snow level when all the numbers on the guage are covered up with snow...

Well there went my 10 inch or so predict smile...
Aint that Camster so cute with his little snow cap on?..NWS Charleston Got busted on this storm with thier initial "Maybe up to 6 inches for the highest elevations"..They were the main reason I kept my snow totals down.
The NAM won out on this one..But Models Schmodols as Chaga once professed, time to pack the bags & get skiing...

But this Morn David?..air temp 8 with windchills way below 0?...You go Arctic Kid!

yeah guys. I predicted 12+ due to the warmth of the lakes and the intensity of the front. Could finish out at 20+ if everything contunues through the evening.

you mean you want me to get up and walk all the way over to the door to see how much it snowed??? c'mon that's why I got the internet;)I got me a ski up and ski down this afternoon over at the slime on my scalies...still not enough on the ground to get me to excited yet, especially w/ the guns a blazin'...I wonder how the surface was over at whitegrass today? probably a little young still for anything on the hill/woods?

brent said you would probably be showing up. i did first chair and a few runs at tline until lightening/silver streak was ginzu'd by 10, then ski'd the rest of the day at white grass. wg had the super light fluff everywhere we skied with a few windblow patches to french fry across, but knowing the aspects on the mountain where the snow drifts best and where there might be rocks is key with no base! tomorrow could be better than today with no winds.

I was just going to post how Snowshoe got nada... voila & TL posted 2.5 inches with canaan hgts coming in with 5 & Wisp cking in with 6..north to south tells a story this morn.
The Schmodels advertised the further north & only had canaan in the 1 to 2 inch range. I'm hoping the next system moving in will beat the f-cast with the colder air staying further south bringing more frozen than melted precip.
love those stealth snows in canaan!

PS..Just saw that Canaan ski area posted a 6 inch total...Watts up With your 2.5 at TL Voila?

Bummer for you. They canceled school here in Harrison County and we got no more than 3".
