LESS CERTAINTY WITH THE WEEKEND STORM...AS OF THIS TIME...THE 12Z
GFS/EURO PROG A LOW TRACKING EAST FROM CO TO THE MID ATLANTIC FRIDAY
THROUGH SUNDAY. WITH AN OVERHEAD TRACK FOR THE LWX CWA...THE MAIN
PRECIP TYPE WOULD AGAIN BY RAIN. DEPENDING ON HOW DEVELOPED THE LOW
CAN GET...COLD AIR SPILLING IN ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE SYSTEM SHOULD
BE ENOUGH FOR SOME SNOW IN THE ALLEGHENIES INCLUDED A CHANCE FOR
LIGHT SNOW OR RAIN NORTH AND WEST OF THE BALT-WASH METROS SATURDAY
NIGHT /CHRISTMAS EVE/. AT THIS TIME...THE ONLY PLACES THAT LOOK TO
HAVE A SHOT AT ANY ACCUMULATIONS/A WHITE CHRISTMAS WOULD BE WEST
FROM THE ALLEGHENY FRONT WHERE THE UPSLOPE SNOW MACHINE OCCURS IN
THE WAKE OF WINTER LOWS.

Timberline and Canaan Ski areas are still holding their snow on intended slopes.
Timberline is still very fun, heck: my niece was able to learn alpine skiing in a day, edging (not a single plow) - this is "perfect" snow for kids.
Canaan will be opening tomorrow (Thursday) from Mid-station.
It's one of those days where you can road bike, downhill bike and ski all on the same day!

Hummm... white Christmas... maybe for KIDS like us.

Got to hand it to you Vic, quite the glass half full type...that's a great way to look at things...I should do that more...because "I'm beginning to think it looks a not like Christmans" myself...let me give this optimism thing a try....It's going to be 50 F and rainy today w/ possible t-storms, but I guess t-slime was able to make more snow than some of the mid A resorts that are located at sea level so I will go take a few runs from mid station...Yeah, Yeah I know, I need to keep working on that half full thing...

I'll give you a hand. wink

The vast piles of snow accumulated on White Lightning and Sally will cause an upper level atmospheric disturbance that will automagically cause oncoming T-Storms to part and miss Herz Mountain completely.

It now takes less than ten minutes to reach the "top of the lift."

You are now closer to Timbers Pub.

Your golf game has improved.

It doesn't matter if the glass is half empty or half full, as long as it contains alcohol.

Well..technically the Alpps (West side of the highest alleghenies) will have a white X-mas but it wasn't from the Storm that was hoped for frown..
There is a decent F-cast for the high country this week, maybe because the PNA(positive= good for East)is hanging just into the positive range even the though the NAO (Neg is good for East) is trending positive ATM.

Before anyone starts crying Global warming, I noticed that Barrow,AK is F-casted to have HIGHS in the 20 below 0 Range...keep in mind that the ave LOW is 15 below!
I also noticed a station up in Russia that had a temp of 61 below 0...It doesn't get much colder than that!...thats where our cold is at Folks..

I wanted to head up to canaan this x-mas but instead I found myself in 73 degree temps at 4pm putting out a few crab pots..latest that I have ever tried it & I know that I am going to have X-mas crabs because I pulled one up after 10 minutes & there were allready 2 maybe three keepers..Crab cake stuffed Turkey for x-Mas?...merry Christmas Y'all!

Here is a post on the x-mas storm from one of the highest paid & famous of them..

Somethings gotta give.. 00z GFS adamant on non event on east coast on Christmas day, in major contrast with euro. I still dont believe it
20 Dec ..

& then chris bailey's (WSAZ weatherman) post which I read everyday..

"At this point... I'm tired of tracking the silly thing. It's going to do what it wants to do anyway. haha
I'll have another update later today. Have a great Friday and be safe if you're travelling. Take care"

Thats why I feel very comfortable posting weather stuff Here...
