Any of you valley residents care to hazard a guess on what we might see at TL and or CV by Saturday/Sunday? Trail count etc.?

I would think that what you see now is what will be available for the coming weekend (two trails from the top and the bunny hill @ t-line)...there will be a little park pushed out for an event on Saturday, but I am not sure if it will be open to the public (unless you are signed up in the contest)....t-line was blowin on upper dew and lower heaven today and there will be semi-good temps tonight for blowin, but it is supposed to warm up again tomorrow all the way through sunday...maybe they will be able to make enough on upper dew, lower heaven to push out another trail from the top to ski on for the weekend, but even if they have enough snow I doubt they will push it out(that is just not their style)...canaan is a junk show, they won't have anything else open...

Take what's given, and ENJOY - because it's all you're gonna get for a little while longer.

Thanks for the updates guys. Weather does indeed look grim for Saturday and Sunday, but I need to pick up my season pass and use it regardless of the conditions. You gotta ski the marginal days to appreciate the good ones. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised.

Its looking like one of those wild cold fronts will be blasting thru canaan sun aft..the kind that makes the house shake & shudder with the wind with gobs of wet Snow dumping down as it quickly gets colder turning the Flakes into white clouds of whiteout blasting over the ground..feel it?..Should I add the sheets of sleet with the crack of thunder to mark the begining of the front?

Well..there will be a nice front coming thru..could be fun to watch..stay tuned!

PS..After the front it looks like we could be in for one of those 3 day snow events the Alpps are known for..bout time!

the frenchman behind the cam is caught in front of it for once

one positive outlook of limited terrain open, it starts to get bumped up by the end of the day on busy weekends with all the traffic

NWS Winter Storm warning..

* Impacts... hazardous travel conditions are expected due to
reduced visibility and snow accumulation.

* Temperatures... around 30 Sunday night... with temperatures
falling to the teens by Tuesday.

* Visibilities... less than 1 mile in heavier snow bands and areas
of blowing snow.

* Ratios... snow will be wet and heavy at the beginning of the
storm with temperatures close to freezing... but the snow will
become more light and powdery as temperatures decrease.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts. Report your snowfall
accumulations to the National Weather Service by calling toll

PS..The 1st Main front might not be as intense as I described because there will be multible stages of cold advances..But a Nice Blast Coming never the less!

Do you think it will last until the weekend or warm back up?

I think they got it all wrong:
1 mile visibility???
I think we'll be looking at 3 inch visibility.
Happy New Year everyone!

From what I see it looks like it will warm back up for the weekend and there's even a chance of non-frozen precip, yuck!

Seems like that will be the trend for this winter... limited shots of snow/cold with warm ups in between.

Today, for lack of better wording, was pretty lousy:
It took about an hour for me to get used to the constant drizzle our weather had to offer.

The snow?
Well, the snow was actually really good.

Ambiance?
Excellent!

Muddy spots?
Not a single one of them on the open trails - still good coverage on Salamander.

Forecast:
A bit of snow, super cold, and more snow.

Get off the computer: GO SKI!

Jan 1st 2012 update:
Looks like the groomers are working hard at Timberline tonight.
Basically, that means that if we get a bunch of powder, it will NOT be groomed tomorrow morning.

Note for those who love groomed slopes:
It's never too late to learn to ski powder.
There are only 7 powder days or so. Give yourself a break!
