Does anyone know what the deal was with the lifts last week? The lines were terrible?

Heard they plan on charging for parking up at the top lot too? Is that true.... ?

I'd like to hear more about Seven Springs charging for parking, if so that's a total crime.

I went out to their website and it says all parking is free except near the Blitzen lift which is $10 or $20 a day: http://www.7springs.com/page/category.detail/nav/5023/Parking.html

Ok, so I went and looked at the map of the place after I posted my reply, this is a crime, apparently the whole North lot is $10, and parking near the Blitzen lift is $20.

I guess this means the only lot with free parking is the one with the shuttle. I am willing to walk just out of spite to prevent Seven Springs from grabbing a bit more from my wallet.

I was planning on avoiding the place this season but I was given a bunch of gift cards from family at Christmas so it looks like a few trips are in order although I'd prefer to avoid as much gouging as possible.

The back end of the North Lot as you come in the gate is still free. The paid parking begins when you can park your car and take a short walk to the slopes. My guess is the first 15 to 20 rows from the Lost Boy Trail back are pay. That's what it looked like to me yesterday when I skied to the lot to have a look. Last year they charged for parking around the Blitzen triple only on the weekends and holidays. Mid-week was free. I hope they return to that policy.

Time to voice your complaints to Seven Springs. Contact Anna Weltz at aweltz@7springs.com she is the Communications Manager for Seven Springs.

Anybody up for an Occupy Seven Springs North Lot Movement? Perhaps 7 Springs management hasn't heard the news about the tough economic times we're in. I guess a business can never go wrong catering to the 1% and screw the 99% who have patronized the place for decades. There is always somebody with an overly large sense of entitlement willing to pay for close in parking when they're too lazy to arrive early to beat the crowds.

I can't wait for Blue Knob to get some decent terrain open.

Yup.7springs may have seen the last of me.The park and short walk were one of the few things this place had going for it other than their snowmaking capabilities.

Me too.

You now have to pay $10 to use the North Parking lot as well.

Here's the email I received.

Complimentary Preferred Parking in the North Lot for Season Pass Holders

Seven Springs Mountain Resort appreciates your passion and truly values your opinions. Your feedback and suggestions help us with our goal and commitment to be the premier four-season family resort focused on providing legendary customer service to all of our guests. It also helps us shape the future of the resort and the creation of new amenities.

For many years, we have been asked by our guests to provide preferred parking in convenient locations throughout the resort. This request led to the creation of the Blitzen Preferred Parking Area and Valet Parking at the hotel, both of which have been overwhelmingly enjoyed by our guests. To accommodate additional requests for preferred parking, we conducted a strategic review of the nearly 4,000 parking spaces on the property to locate another area for this amenity. This review led to the selection of the preferred parking in the North Lot.

Since opening a section of the North Lot for preferred parking, we have received communications from some guests who are not in favor of the program. Based on this input, effective immediately, Seven Springs will now offer the North Lot Preferred Parking Area as a complimentary amenity to all Season Pass Holders this winter, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Simply show your pass to the attendant for admittance. Season pass holder must be present to use this amenity free of charge.

Guests who would like to use this amenity can still do so at a $10 per car fee. Preferred parking in the North Lot is only available Saturdays, Sundays and holiday periods. We will also continue to evaluate other viable parking options for next winter.

Thank you for your dedication to the resort and your continued patronage. We look forward to helping make more memories for you and your family this winter.

Bob Nutting is going to use the ten bucks to add a power hitter at first base in 2012 for the Pirates. (Sarcasm off)

Lucky for me, my son likes Hidden Valley so they'll continue to get my $$.

I'm going to try HV tomorrow morning. If anyone is in the neighborhood and can tolerate my slow skiing, I'll have a blue jacket on, black helmet and an ever popular Steelers sticker on my helmet.

I found this statement almost completely incredulous.

However, in 7S 's defense, if a grand total of 2 guests asked for preferred parking over the "many years", then they technically are telling the truth.

I didn't even get my e-mail sent off yet. I parked right by Check Point Charley today for free. It looks like mid-week will still be first come first serve and if you're a pass holder the North Lot will be free first come first serve on weekends and holidays but still be free for the masses on the weekdays. North Lot was free today.

I'd pay preferred parking fees at the Springs if Bob coughs up the cash to get that quad chair he owns at Laurel running next year along with the "new" triple the state will install. On second thought, no I won't. Somehow I get a feeling that Laurel's "new" triple will be 7S old Gunnar triple relocated to Laurel.

On a more skiing oriented note, the skiing at the Springs was pretty good today. North Face was open with skier's left and middle fairly well covered, a few thin spots. Sunset had real nice conditions. On the front side, Avalanche was reopened and in nice shape. Bumps are getting pretty gnarly on Stowe. Yak-Yak glade was skiable at least half way down with good natural and snow making blow in. The lower section was skiable if you're not too worried about your bases. Funny how a foot of snow compresses to about 4 to 5 inches in such a short time.

What's that you say? The ground was warm at the start of the storm? Hmmm...

If the guests want to park close to the slopes maybe they should get their arz outta bed a little bit earlier.
