I want to try tele, but I already shelled out for a Whitetail/Liberty advantage card and I'd also like to avoid the even longer drive out to WV right now. Does anyone know if there is a place in northern VA or even DC that does tele rentals, demos, leasing, etc? I believe Whitetail has tele demo skis at their retail shop, but they close early, and I'm not sure if they let you demo boots.

Thanks,
Scott

Scotts,

Whitegrass has some demo Tele skis in Canaan Valley. At Whitetail Dusty Wissmuth runs (owns??) the ski shop there and is a tele skier. He would be the guy to call and see if they have any tele gear that you can try. In DC, Washington Ski Center sells gear and have several people that are very knowledgeable (Brian Beaumont)but there is not enough demand to carry demo gear.

Unfortunately, most of us just decided we wanted to Tele and took the plunge and bought gear. There are very few places where there are enough Tele skiers to support a demo program.

There is a 2 day tele workshop at Whitegrass this coming weekend. That would be a great chance to learn from the best.

TomH is right. Ski Center does carry new tele and AT equipment but not demos, to my knowledge. Worth a phone call however.

Another option for you might be the Appalachian Telemark Association's TELEPALOOZA 2012 held at 7Springs on Jan 28 & 29.
7S has rental gear and the event is staff with high quality instructors. Good vibs from those who attend and there are even a GS and Up / Down Hill Race, not to mention lots of swag. Check it out to see if it meets your needs.

Thanks everyone. I called Whitetail and confirmed that they do tele demo packages at the ski shop. $36 for the day, equipment must be back by 6 pm.

Ski center has day-to-day rentals, but no demos or leasing.
