From NWS for Alta. (Nearly 3 feet possible in two days. Haven't seen those numbers this year. Still it is vapor-snow depth until it hits the ground.)

Wednesday: Snow, mainly after 11am. High near 18. Wind chill values as low as -8. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 10 to 13 mph increasing to between 26 and 29 mph. Winds could gust as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Wednesday Night: Snow. Low around 18. Wind chill values as low as -2. Breezy, with a west wind between 23 and 26 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

Thursday: Snow. High near 24. Breezy, with a west southwest wind between 22 and 24 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.

Thursday Night: Snow. Low around 22. Windy. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

They'll be hitting rocks all this week also, though the turns in between the rocks will be a bit better. cool

Only 37 inch (settled) mid-mountain base. Need at least 70 or so (settled) before you can start to get adventurous with non-rock skis. All those rocks you skied around last week (if you left the groomers), you'd be hitting this week, hidden under a nice inviting lightweight white blanket.

Bird and Alta have some pretty rough rocky slopes underneath which need a surprising amount of base. Different from the East Coast.

Yeah, that was obvious when our instructor pointed to a big rock outcropping and said "That's usually a groomer."

Alta had a few bowls that were almost rock free, they'd be pretty sweet with 2 feet of fresh instead of the 3 inches we got.

So...what about a late March trip to Baker instead of an April/Utah?

Similar to the Sports Illustrated cover curse?

PNW just got slammed. Looks like WY, UT, CO and Tahoe(!) about to get slammed. Edit: forecast is now better for Alta than I posted in teh OP.

Weather pattern still a bit iffy for the Mid Atlantic with the zonal jetstream? Mr. Fish?

Baker's great (it has turned into something of a home mountain since my parents moved to Northern Washington a few years ago), and lord knows you will have plenty of snow, but I'd be a bit nervous about rain, especially at that time of year. Be sure to bring a good hardshell!
