Just stopping by to curse the weather. Seriously, this is ridiculous. Rain MUCH more than snow, even in them hills. UGH. Strangely, rains all week and stops for the weekend. Guess that is a blessing, maybe that's why it's so busy on the weekend.

SO any weather gurus out there? Can I get a glimmer of hope that it is actually going to snow? I know around Pittsburgh around 6" landed. South of Pittsburgh we got a nice coating of ice, bout it. Sad really. The last snowfall I remember seeing with the trees/roads covered was , what...early October?

Just got back from atop the mountain in Canaan - it was DRY... but now, down pouring like there's "no tomorrow".

It shouldn't last, but this is horrible.

I was watching the weather channel the other night and they indicated the the pattern would change for February and it would be colder.

Fishnski....your weather analysis would be appreciated...

I doubt it could be any warmer...hammering down the rain now...lost a lot of snow the last few days...but the surface was sweet yesterday for sure at t-line, big soft/deep turns with not a soul around...

Our annual long weekend at WISP is set for next weekend. Looks like the cold comes back for the weekend, but we will see if it arrives when we do on Thursday or arrives when we are leaving on Sunday.

REALLY disappointing winter. I think at this point the consensus is there will be no major pattern change, just the same rollercoaster through Fed, but maybe biased more towards storms/cold than dry/warm.

We have never had a bad weekend at WISP for Superbowl weekend. We have always had good, great, and outstanding, but I'm getting worried...

Why indeed. I am getting very sick of this year without a winter. Skiing WRODs in late January while even major destination areas in the west continue their snow drought is not what I had in mind. This weekend I'll be with my scout troop at Seven Springs, one of those mid Atlantic areas where the access road is steeper than the slopes.. Watching the boys will be fun however.

One wonders what February shall bring. The spouse and I are doing the PSIA level II skiing exam on the 27th and 28th. Conditions are the exact opposite of the past several years. Hardpack, sugar, and corn... crazy It's a lot easier doing what we're suppose on packed pow.

I don't know if that link will link but the last few model runs have given me a little hope for some ski friendly weather coming...+..isn't it snowing a little up in the Alpps right now?

I have gotten tired of all the positive signs of winter returning & THEN GETTING SHOT DOWN! & even the Pro weather bloggers have fallen silent after a lot of hype.

I know that the Global temps are a good bit below ave which is NOT NORMAL..Europe(eastern) is going into a deep freeze ect..but when looking at the northern hemisphere anomaly map I see this above ave Red spot for the East mad

I have been in shorts & T-shirts for too long down here in the carolinas...especially since I can't even enjoy the warmth due to me being freaked out about some relo's coming all the way over from England to spend some time at my canaan camp mid feb.

at least for the High country I'm thinking there are some better times ahead.

Alaska has been frozen shut all jan(40 below fairbanks right now)...when alaska is cold the East tends to be warm..gotta change soon!...?

PS..The NAO doesn't seem to want to go Neg which helps breed the Big coastal Snowstorms but the PNA is staying Positive which should help the Western high Country with cool shots & Clippers ect..

What is the worst you that you all recall? This is up there so far, but I've seen some lean years with rain and icey slopes, AND huge lift lines way back when. Especially before better snowmaking was purchased at some place likes HV.

I'm starting to see promising signs of winter returning for February on Chris Bailey's Blog and on the Single Chair Weather Blog from Mad River Glen, VT....

Here's to a cold and snowy February!

I can't believe how warm it was yesterday and is supposed to get today.

I had big hopes of a great WISP trip this weekend and then some day trips to Liberty etc to end the season. At this point, I'm just hoping our WISP trip this weekend isn't a bust frown

At this rate, I should be able to snowboard on blacks in about 5 years frown (I already ski really well, I'm trying to pick up snowboarding)

During the month of January 2012... 3 inches of snowfall was
recorded at Clarksburg West Virginia. If this verifies against
records at the National climatic data center... it will tie for the
ninth least snowiest January on record along with
1929... 1944... 1967... and 1969.

On this date back on 1989 Russel,Kansas reported a low of 12..the day before it got up to 84..

What does that mean for our future?... confused...I only have hope at this point but my legs are getting tanned!

Wisp is in great shape, I skied there on Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday of this week. They made a lot of snow on Sunday night, plus they got 3" of natural. When I came off the hill yesterday afternoon it was around 60F with crystal clear blue skies. The only thing good about the warm weather, is that I've been able to work on my goggle tan!

That's good to hear. I have always had a tough time getting in the mood when it is so warm and you don't feel like wearing the gear. I'll take warm and snow instead of warm and slush though!
