Hey everyone!! So I've been lame lately and only stalking on the forum thanks to a hectic work/ski schedule. But, I have some big news that is really exciting for me and everyone in the local ski community!
The website
OpenSnow (fka ColoradoPowderForecast) was created by a friend of mine with the goal of combining local ski forecast bloggers nationwide into a single website. Unlike most sites, OpenSnow meteorologists are all local skiers that know the dynamics of the mountains they forecast and completely obsessed with two things: weather and snow. Basically, the idea is to provide the type of forecast that really tells you if it will be a good day to ski rather than a computerized forecast that tells you the high temperature and gives you an image for what the weather might be like.
Joel Gratz, the founder of the site and a friend of mine from the PSU Ski Team (obsessed enough with snow that he moved to Boulder, CO), asked if I could fill the role as the local forecaster for the Mid-Atlantic (WV, MD, VA, PA, and possible NC). So I am happy to announce that I will writing the "Mid-Atlantic Daily Snow" and forecasting 5-day snow totals each morning for every resort in our area!
The first Daily Snow will go live tomorrow morning but the resort snow total forecasts are already up through Feb 1st. It would be great if everyone could take a look at the site and tell your ski buddies/coworkers/random people on the street that the site is up and running!!!
Please let me know if you have any input! I'll post here as soon as the first daily snow is live.
