Hello snow lovers. The Metro section of the Sunday Washington Post has an article about the artificial slope at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.

The price is right, and it is not too far away.
While these slopes are getting better, they are not as forgiving as snow. I have skied on several of them, starting in Paris in the l960's. I think the biggest one in the world is in Dubai. The slopes are an exciting adventure, but be well padded and wear a helmet.
In the meantime, lots of snow and cold are predicted here this winter. It has already been the coldest winter on record in New Zealand!

From the article:

"Apart from Mt Hood, Liberty Mountain is the only place in North America where you can ski during the summer."

Umm, first, I assume they mean "lift-served" skiing.

Second, ever heard of a little place called Whistler?
