As you may have heard US extreme ski legend Glen Plake (and newly pinned PSIA Level III instructor) was nearly killed in an avalanche while resting at a high camp before attempting to climb and ski from the summit of a Himalayan peak earlier this week. Here's a link to a recent Wash Post article with a synopsis and photos of Glen shortly after this very close call. He survived, the person sharing a tent with him when the avalanche struck apparently did not.
