What are the early season crowds at snowshoe like? I've only ever gone to snowshoe mid-season when the weekend crowds are a zoo. After missing last season with a broken leg I'm eager to make some turns as early as possible.

There are no early season crowds at SS. If the weather cooperates and there is ample terrain open it crowds up a bit on Fridays and Saturdays until Christmas, when all hell breaks loose. (God forgive me). Silver Creek opens in mid-December which helps to spread out the peeps. I no longer ski at the Shoe on weekends unless I have guests that absolutely must go out. It is downright dangerous and no fun to be out there. But....everything changes on Sunday afternoon around 1:00PM and it really is "almost heaven" everyday until Friday afternoon. The place can be almost earily vacant Monday thru Wed in recent years with their Colorado priced lift tickets which people refused to pay for. We will see how it goes this year with lower priced lift tickets and hopefully better weather. I have to say though, for mid Atlantic skiing, SS has the consistently best conditions south of Vermont even in the worst of winters. Timberline too, I just cant tolerate their two lifts powered by geriatric hamsters. But SS and TL are as good as it gets in the mid A.

The single day/window price is up to $89. You have to investigate all the various convolutions of pricing. Beware this years new "activity tax" added on. At the Homeowners mtg, the GM told us, rather then totally price themselves out of the market, they'd more-or-less, hide a price increase under the guise of an additional Tax added on!
Crowds? LOL. Ever go to Disney where you stood in line for an hour for a 3 minute ride?...THAT was quick! FYI - Mon-Thur - you'll be alone!
