From Joel Gratz at OpenSnow.com:

"Fifty inches (50") in Utah!
The second biggest lake effect snow storm in the last 15 years pummeled the Cottonwood Canyons of Utah with three feet of snow over the last two days. This was on top of two feet that fell on Friday as the cold front passed through. Tahoe and some locations in Colorado also recorded 18"+. Looking ahead, most of the country will be snow-free this week except for the Pacific Northwest. Even so, you can keep your head and your heart happy by checking out more pictures from the storm."

Got the cure for your ills Mr. E, fly out with us on Dec 5th. (Had a use or lose flight on SWA that expires that day.)

Hey John. That would give you a chance to rent and try a Dynafit or other AT setup. There are any number of good shops in SLC. I like the one at the intersection of Wasatch Blvd with big cottonwood canyon. It has the added advantage of being next door to a good brewpub. If you want to try skinning without the risks of going alone into strange country, try Cardiff Pass which starts right behind the Shallow Shaft restaurant across the street from Alta/bird. There are always a few people there. You may want to pick up the 3 book set, "Wasatch Tours", available at REI on 3900 S.

Have fun.

Good idea on the AT rentals. I actually bought a set a skis from them (my PR's way back when.) This early in the season, may have to stick to the resorts?
