Fun Free Skiing/Riding Smart Phone App
December 7, 2012
Alpine Replay.
It's a GPS enabled app that will keep track of your skiing anywhere in the world. It'll give you your fastest speed, your highest average speed, vert skied, miles skied, calories burned, jumps made, and air time in those jumps. It will chart every single one of your runs on a trail map and you'll be able to see how fast you were going at every point on every single one of your runs (which might be used against you in court should you be unfortunate enough to actually run into someone).
For $36 a year - it'll even tell you the steepness of your runs, but it's a great app without spending the money.
The app beats the heck out of Vail Resorts' Epic Mix, and unlike Epic Mix it actually seems to work every time.
So you can see what the app provides, here's a look at my skiing at Keystone yesterday. To get a better look at every run that I took yesterday, just make the map bigger.
Yeah, I skied a few trails a lot of times -- but that's all that's open.
FYI: the bottom of the mountain is at the top of the map. As with most maps, north is at the top of the map.

Cool beans. I've been using the free SkiTracks which works really well, but cannot track your air time, which I don't really need anyway
when you say airtime, do you mean when I am cartwheeling board over head after catching an edge and 'hoping' that I come to a stop without the loud sound of a snap, the lights being shut out or, from hitting into something solid? That's when I actually like hearing someone scream from the lifts "nice one duuuuude'. I know I'm somewhat ok at that point.
