I'm WVU grad and I had to drink myself into a near coma to watch the Mounties S*&T the bed in the Pin Stripe Bowl. Luckily, I fell asleep around 9 PM.
That said I was up and ready to go at 7 AM. I have 4 kids ranging from 17 - 22 and no one wanted to play today so I went up alone.
Arrived at 9 AM grabbed my ticket at that North Summit parking area and off I went. There were only 2 cars in the lot when I arrived.
I was the first person on the Avalanche Lift. No one in front or behind me.
No one around on the North Summit at 9 AM.
Light snow all day. A little windy but not intolerable.
Beginner area a little crowded around noon.
Almost no one on that black on the front side. Great for you experts ... I'm a blue kinda guy.
Lift lines not too bad all day.
Guys and Gals, you need to get out there. The snow is a plenty.
Also - for those that have flexible schedules or some time off, go to HV's website and look at their mid week specials. I may try to go up there a few Thu nights. For 50 bucks a person, you get a lift ticket for your arrival night, a room in their lodge, continental breakfast and and an all day lift pass the next day. Valid M, Tu, W, and Th nights. IF, IF, IF you can swing and EXTRA 5 bucks, it's 55 PP on Sundays into Monday.
Disclaimer - I'm not a HV employee or HV "homer". I actually own a condo in Snowshoe but it's a long drive for a quick day trip.
