Gore? Anyone been

I am thinking of Gore over MLK weekend. Anyone have any thoughts on my choice, lodging, or ticket deals?
Wojo,
Can't really comment on lodging or how busy Gore will be over MLK. However, I do have one transferable Snow Sampler ticket left from my trip to Whiteface that is good for any one day of skiing at Gore or Whiteface. I would want to get what I paid for it, which was around $62.00.
My wife and I drove past Lake George, which is close to Gore, on the way up to Whiteface. It's a beautiful drive from Albany to Lake George. You should enjoy the trip, but I would expect it to be crowded since it is one of the closest big ski areas to Albany.
I skied there once, on my way back from Whiteface, nice mountain for intermediate skiers. Most memorable run was Twister, its like riding a roller coaster, they also had a high speed triple, It seemed to load quicker than some quads or sixpack lifts.
Yes. Separate your skis if you go inside, and lock each one in a different location. Though they will watch you and just follow to see where the matching ski is left. But if each is locked you have a chance on them being there when you come out.
There is probably a gore post in my history somewhere. I took my son and nephews few years back. I stayed at a cabin my brother in law has in the area, so dont have a lot of insight on housing. I remember the mountain as fun. Not overly challenging, but had a few steep bump runs and a glade area. They have a gondola which was nice break from wind. I was thinking of going back in feb.
Bumps, thanks.
Looks awesome. Going with my son and his friend. Now I am hoping for all that snow you have in your pics.

MephitBlue - I am getting the three day passes, so I have to turn down your offer. What the heck is MephitBlue? Always wondered that . . .
Spoke to a Gore employee, she said get away from the base and it will be empty. That sounds like a solid plan. If anyone has an great advice on EATS, I would take it.
I am not the best trip reporter, but I will post either during or after the long drive home.
I went to Gore over New Years and skied 2 days there. I really liked it.
They have a gondola to use to relax and warmup occassionly.
Gore has recently opened 2 new areas.
Burnt Ridge HS quad, is lift served, but has a mostly backcountry feel, with glades and woods covering 1400 vertical. 1 woods run takes you really far away from the main area, and at one point you skiing under power lines, the closest thing to backcountry skiing I've ever done, really cool.
They have also reopened and connected old gore trail pod, which is themed as oldschool. 1000 vertical, minimal grooming and snowmaking.
Gore is a woods and glade lovers dream. If you like skiing glades and woods then Gore is for you! I was there for 2 full days and skied the woods almost exclusively. There was still other woods and glades that I did not have time to do.
I have skied Killington, Sugarbrush, Mad River, and Magic in that area. I think Gore is best for the woods and glade lover.
Negatives...
Lots of long flat spots/traverses in certain areas, but can be minimized with mountain knowledge and planning.
Gondola does not go top to bottom.
Not much to do in the area.
Limited lodging choices
Old school response.
Thanks for the Blue Trail directions way back when.
That sounds pretty cool! it sounds like I need to start hitting up the ol' brother in law and get my butt back up there.
quick report. skied today. lots of nice long runs. It seems that if you stay in a trail pod you dont have to traverse much. snow was fantastic. almost no ice at all.
glades weren't open to speak of for lack of cover. runs made up for it tho. boy was it cold. 8 degrees to start and 15 at the end of day. top os the lifts are exposed and it was pretty windy on some.
Place was empty today. ski patrol said we shouldn't have too much wait anywhere. best of the best for steeps were straight brook and top ridge. they were fairly sheltered from the wind. Nothwood twister was epic with blown snow and big whales all the way down the run.
not much night life and no chain hotels or restaurants to speak of. kinda an old school experience. if the glades were fully open you could spend alot of time here.
