Went to Whitetail yesterday, it was nice to get out there, although would have liked to have a few more black runs open.

I was thinking of hitting up Liberty just for the sake of a different slope next weekend; as i've been to whitetail probably a dozen times over the years and Liberty only twice.

Has anyone been out there this season?

Yes, on Saturday.

Coverage was pretty good for how late the season started. Almost everything was open, except White Lightening, which is a black on the front side and then one of the blues on the back was also closed. It was crowded in the afternoon, but not in the early morning. They blew snow when it was cold enough, which was until about 11 on Saturday, so bring your goggles.

This past weekend was pretty good as far as conditions. Saturday was, by far, the more crowded of the two days with both lots filled by midday. Heard rumor that there were about 5,000 skiers/boarders that visited that day. Sunday was, on the other hand, quite the opposite with the backside pretty empty, especially after 1pm when the playoffs games started.

On coverage, Liberty has done a pretty amazing job given the lack of real cold weather. Some thin spots do exist but are not extensive. As usual, the snow is best in the morning right after opening. It softened up during the day, especially on Sunday. As an instructor buddy of mine said, "not bad for spring conditions - too bad its January!"

Unfortunately, we're heading into another warming trend with temps nearing 60 mid week in Washington with mid-60's already forecast for the weekend. Not sure how much snow can get made at night, but keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks folks. I was aiming for Sunday, since it seems to be the day of less people. Usually stop skiing by 1 or 2 with these kind of conditions. At Whitetial, we were skied out yesterday by 2 PM - between the increasingly slushy, sticky snow because of the temps and the lack of lift lines--- and it being our first ski day of the new season.

I'd likely do the same this weekend at Liberty, but 60 degree temps are no good!

We were at Liberty yesterday for a few hours (went to pick up our NCC passes). Conditions were surprisingly good (we started a little after 10, and left around 1:15). They were getting "squishy" by the time we left. I hope they can make magic through this week, as it seems our January thaw has come earlier than normal, and with a vengeance.

I was there on monday/tuesday for a psia workshop. overall conditions were variable. some bare spots poking through. They can cover most but with lows only being marginal for snow making and rain and spring temps for 4/5 days it will be interesting especially if they have high skier traffic. The base is only deep enough to open terrain, not enough to maintain terrain if it gets real warm. I'd call ahead.
