Spring skiing at Mnut on Saturday with temps in the 60's. With a major bonus . . . Freestyle of Charlottesville is doing a free demo tent this weekend, Jan. 5-6, 9:00-2:00 at the base of Lift 6. The real surprise was that they had skis from several brands in my size, meaning low 150's. The winner of the day was the Rossi Temptation 82 in 152cm. I had to wait on for them to come back in but well worth it.

It was blue sky on the mountain in the morning. Lots of fog in the valley until 10:30 or so. The top was in clouds Fri evening. Felt like the high 30's. Snow wasn't bad on Showtime.

By 9:30 the icy patches on DJ had softened up. Not exactly the best conditions for testing out mid-fats but still a pretty fun day. Only needed a light vest over a long sleeve base layer after 10:00.

Got to take a look at the new locker room. On the ground floor of the ski lodge right off the slope with a coded key lock on the door. $125 for the season or $50 for the week (this is a timeshare resort) for a pretty big metal locker in a heated space with a separate key. This replaced the day/night check that few people used. Also gave more indoor space for the kids' ski school.

Friday evening the snow wasn't bad at all on Showtime. Top of the mountain was in a cloud so I didn't bother to go up Lift 6. Cold enough with the wind that I needed my warm gloves. Probably high 30's.

Will be going back the next two weekends in Jan too.

Just realized the dates are wrong for this TR. I was at Mnut Jan. 4-6 but this TR and pics are from Jan. 11-12. Gets confusing when I'm at Mnut so many weekends.

Snow was a lot nicer Jan. 5-6! Perfect for friends who were there for their first ski trip ever. Going back with them the last weekend of Jan.
