Greetings from Arlington
January 30, 2013
Hi Everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself as a newbie here on the boards! I currently live in Arlington, VA- moved from Western, NY about 4 years ago. I used to race in college, and my last ski trip was to Western Canada last year- I went to Golden, BC and did Kicking Horse and Lake Louise. Though, still my favorite mountain is Steamboat Springs, CO.
I am heading to Whitetail this weekend (tomorrow), and then next weekend, my boyfriend and I are heading to Snowshoe. Looking forward to some good conditions and getting out of the city for a little bit!!
Looking forwar to good topics of conversation here and learning a bit about some other ski-fans in the DC area!

Welcome Kerianne! Glad to have you on board. Or on skis.
Welcome Kerianne. This is a great forum. You will enjoy it. Western NY, so did you hang around Holiday Valley and those environs? Did you ever ski that private mountain in Ellicottville? Might be that people would be interested in hearing about it.
Yes! That is actually where I used to go for college- Holiday Valley (I went to St. Bonaventure Univ- about 20 minutes away....). So I am quiet familiar with Ellicotville, NY (My best friend was a bartender at Ellicotville Brewing Company- so that never hurt either!). I will find some old skiing photos from there and start a thread on it- in terms of Western, NY ski resorts, I'd say its my favorite (though I did learn on Bristol MT- near Rochester, so I have a little place in my heart for that.) For me it was perfect, I kept my skis in my car all the time and with a season pass it was close enough to go there for a few runs a couple nights a week.
Thanks for the welcome!

Great to see another product of Bristol Mountain! I did junior racing there many, many years ago. AJ Kitt was one year older and raced for Swain at the time. Skied Tues and Thurs after school and all day Saturday and Sunday. A nice existence. Lived in Fairport...until my dad's job moved us to Texas. Crap! But hello trips out West each year as compensation. Can't complain today, having carved out a decent existence here in No Va and wearing a name tag at one of the local hills. Welcome to the boards!
Thanks! It is nice to see that someone has at least even heard of Bristol from this area!!! I grew up in Pittsford, and I was apart of the same crowd that did the ski clubs on Monday- Wednesdays after school and tried to get into as many weekends as possible. Unfortunately, I am the only family member that was into skiing, so it was a bit difficult.
Thanks!
