Dear 7S,
You did it. Not sure how. All that snow piled up, little to no effort to cut it , then suddenly like xmas presents under the tree the next morning, you managed to produce one heck of a scene in your The Spot park. The halfpipe and jumps look absolutely amazing for this weeks Open qualifier. Your Park Crew needs a raise!

On top of that, I see you are blowing snow on almost the entire mountain... I'm amazed. It only took you 2 months to figure out your new pump systems. I heard about the fact that you fired all your old techs because you thought your new eco generators wouldn't require maintenance until 70% of them went offline for over 4 weeks. OPPS. I guess electricity creation doesnt leave a carbon footprint too. Hmmm, Glad MSNBC tells us the truth on these things....

BUT I Digress....

In all seriousness, I'm very proud that you were able to pull of making this place shine for this weekend when you will be in the spotlight. You got LUCKY because that warm stretch could have kept going and boy would it have been yucky.

Congrats 7Springs.

I'm staying away from there this weekend. Too crazy, I fear.

All of us trail riders had to sacrifice Giant Steps over the MLK weekend so The Spot could be built and since the Gunnar six dumps scads more folks on the hill, with Giant Steps closed the rest of the backside was scratchy and crowded but yeah, congrats to the Springs for impressing the competitors, organizers, and media.

Was there Sunday. Either the Super Bowl and/or the snowboarding event kept the crowds down.

If this is important to them, I dont understand why they dont put in some turbine based snowmachines? Oh, thats because then they would openly admit their antique snowmaking is a joke. Alas, they spent MORE on this old snowmaking equipment by switching to electric 'green' generators. Blah

If that hill was lined with real snow equipment, they wouldnt need to shut that trail down

It really isn't the HKDs, they are state of the art. The Springs had this big competition scheduled and they must have an Olympic sized pipe, their reputation was on the line. Successive freeze thaw, rain and 70 degree days meant Giant Steps went without snowmaking until enough snow was made($250,000 or more?)to build the pipe and park. Great for the pros, sucks for the rest of us.
