Want to learn to Telemark. Any recommendations? Looking to start with a lesson or two at T-line or Whitegrass. Does anyone have any advice for instructors?

Start doing the dishes in a tele stance. Do a LOT of dishes.
Then (when all your dishes are done) come to Timberline. They will be happy to take great care of you during your tele progression.

Next advice: the front leg is ALWAYS bent a little & you must ALWAYS be centered on your skis.

Enjoy!

Definitely check in to the tele clinics at Timberline. Great value, AWESOME teachers, and a great time!!

Even just a one hour 'group' lesson would be a cheap private lesson.

That is a good deal. I've been eyeing the weather in VT all season and they are kind of hurting for snow. MGR has only received 86-127" of snow this year. In comparison, the Valley has received 144" at midmountain. If they get some snow over the next couple of weeks, I may head up to VT on 3/08/13.

Just realized that March 9-10, 2013 is the NATO Tele Festival at MRG. Friday might be a great time to take advantage of the lessons/package.

The Mad River Telefest is a great idea. I've been a half dozen times. However to get the most out of it, i recommend before going rent some tele gear and spend a day or 2 on a bunny slope getting a feel for the free heel and going thru the progression of your alpine techniques. Start with a gliding wedge, then wedge turns, then take it as far as you can go with parallel turns. It will pay big dividends. Canaan's short bunny slope is an excellent place to do it. Good, consistent pitch and its own chair.
