Ski Into Retirement
April 5, 2013
http://www.skiutah.com/winter/blog/authors/yeti/he-s-95-and-skiingThis is for all skiers getting a bit long in tooth and wondering about skiing during the retirement years.
This article, from the April 3 "Ski Utah" daily report, is about the oldest among the Alta "Wild Bunch" of senior skiers.
There is skiing enjoyment for as long as we want to make it happen!
The Colonel
Skiing keeps you healthy.
As long as you don't hurt yoself.
I watched the video of him skiing and all I can say is I want to be him when I'm 95. His turns look really nice in that video.
Give me another 68 seasons and I may finally perfect my turns too!!
I retired and my skiing has undergone a noticeable improvement. Went back to Zermatt - my dream ski place. Skied Telluride, which I had always wanted to do. A week in Mont Tremblant. And a cumulative two months at Snowshoe. Next year is ten days in Whistler, five days in Stowe, a vacation in Andorra and Baqueira/Beret, and two months at Snoshoe. It gets better...
This thread give me hope!
My wife and I are always talking about retiring early to ski. My son's decision to go to a private college (Gettysburg) has put a crimp in those plans, but still, whenever we talk retirement, it is in conjunction with what mountain do we want to be near!
^^^ Fifty more years and I am there.
George obviously has some very good genes, but I'm guessing he must be vigilent with his general health and medical care. He also appears to have a great overall attitude with the will power to train hard and stay in shape. Thanks for sharing Colonel. You are one of the fine older skiing role models here on DCSki! Still, it must make you feel young to think there are still guys on the hill old enough to be your father.
